Somehow the whole subgenre of smart notebooks escaped my attention until just recently (I'd love to know your algorithm, Amazon, for how you came to think I might be interested in a smart notebook, my having never bought or looked at notebooks or paper before). I read up on them and decided that I was unlikely to use the 'smart' application of them, so I do as little actual handwriting/printing as possible for a variety of reasons.But, while at home, I do jot down ephemera of one sort of another, tossing it once I've looked it up or typed it into an application. The paper it was jotted on, even if a to be recycled envelope or back of something, still gets tossed. I got this Elfinbook to see how it works out as a wipeable jotting pad.So far, it is working fine. I haven't gotten past the first page yet (no, wait, I jotted the ingredients for a kale salad on page two). Once I'm either done with the information to be acted on, or when the page is full of now acted upon info, I simply wipe it off with a damp paper towel and start over again. (Since I save clean used paper towels for some secondary uses before ultimately throwing them out if they can't be composted, I'm not actually wasting a perfectly good paper towel, and it's faster and easier this way than using the microwave or blow dryer.)For me, using it this way, works. YMMV.

VERY happy with my Elfinbook purchase. The "paper" is smooth and easy to write on. I recommend the 0.5 pens rather than the 0.7 pens (it comes with the 0.5) as the ink does spread a little and they 0.5 width will give a crisper line. Easy to wipe clean. Best features are the half lined, and half blank sheets, which are easily rearrangable by snapping open the coil. Sometimes the pages initially stick together, but you just need to carefully peel them apart and then they are fine.The app is OK - seems to be based on a similar interface as cam scanner, though as other reviewers have noted, the OCR is TERRIBLE. At least for my handwriting it is awful. I haven't tried it with printing. So if you are looking for a handwriting-OCR solution this may not be for you. Otherwise as a reusable notebook it is fabulous. I prefer the paper to the feeling of the Rocketbook, and like the snap open coil better as well.

I just got this today and I am incredibly happy. It is so easy to take notes and save them using the app. I like having my notes saved to my email so I don’t lose them but writing on paper helps me retain them better so best of both worlds is the Elfinbook. I purchased this model as it was less expensive than other smart notebooks and seemed like a better buy, was not disappointed. This is going to be so helpful with school and I can’t wait to use it when I start class tomorrow. I probably won’t microwave it but you don’t have to. If you are looking for a smart notebook with an awesome ink eraser this is it.

First time trying this type of notebook.I like the 5.8" x 8.3" size, it is the easy to carry.The App was easy to install, and a green rectangular box appeared on my phone camera when I tried to capture my notes. The App allows me to adjust the alignment of the page before saving it, which is a good function. Need to make sure that I use water based erasable pen when writing in this notebook, so I can erase the ink and reuse it in the future.

Love it but...I am a part time graduate school student who still loves to write papers by hand. Once the paper has been typed, I love being able to go through the notebook and wipe all the pages clean. I was able to use the OCR and was surprised... 80% of what I wrote turned out being correctly spelled! The app does not allow you to save the OCR copy, instructions are in Chinese...WTH???? If the app worked better, I would have rated the Elfinbook a 5.

i love this! i can take notes and erase without worrying about a “white out.” also take photos of my notes or drawings and start over. bought one of my kids and they absolutely love it too😘 thank u

This is just a washable notebook. The paper is smooth unlike real notebook paper, which is what makes it erasable. I have not tried the steaming method, but it works with damp cloth wiping.It is not "smart" in that it is electronics embedded. It does come with an app that makes scanning and OCR handy. I have attached an image with English and Chinese and it works. As a side note, it talks about network traffic so I think it uploaded the image to have the OCR done elsewhere

The notebook came and was very excited to try open it up.Was expecting like some sort of high tech ebook type of notebook, but instead got a regular notebook instead.Although I must say that the App works quite well, it captures everything on the notebook and turns it into PDF format.The water based ink pen that came with the book is very nice though. Although I do wish that the pen holder was on the top instead of at the bottom.Still waiting to try out the Erase function after I am done filling up the entire notebook
