I hate those universal remotes where you first need to select the device you want to control, and then press the buttons (e.g., volume change, channel change, etc.). The nice thing with this remote control is that it is not "mode-driven", i.e., TV mode, STB mode, etc. So, I don't need to switch to STB mode to change channels, and then Amplifier mode to change the volume.Furthermore, you can program each button to do whatever you want (provided you have the original remote). Point the two remotes at each other, press a couple of buttons, and it learns the command from the original remote. So, you can set up the buttons the way you like them.Excellent product.
