Small but effective!
For the past year or so, I've used a regular nail file to do Riley's nails. The electric ones tend to be so expensive, and loud. Not this one!As soon as I got it, I was able to immediately remove it from the package, lay Ri down, and start grinding away. It took me all of 20 minutes to get her nails done. It was quiet, and the stone is absolutely perfect for what it needs to do. It uses AA batteries (included) that are very easily accessible, and the stone should last for a couple runs!I will say that I was pretty surprised with how small it is, it's about as tall as a standard pen. The actual stone is small as well, but can definitely handle larger dogs. I just removed the guard so I could round her nails off & we were all set!Definitely recommend this product! Thanks guys!

Gentle and safe but takes some time
This product works pretty well. Used it on my 3yr old, 35 pd mixed pitbull with very thick and long nails and it did the job after 3 sessions. Its relatively quiet but it does vibrate obviously, and took him some getting used to it. He hates getting his nails clipped and throws a HUGE fit. i was sick of the hassle and always scared i would hurt him so i purchased this. His nails were quite long, so it took about 3 seperate sessions to get them down. I found if i held his nail tight and pushed it into the grinder it works better then just holding the paw. Its very gentle and safe and i was able to do it on my own ,but i do wish it had more power. If your dog is super super fussy and terrified with the clippers, this is a good alternative. Gentle, and safe but takes some time.

Quiet and compact.
Works great ! It's a bit slow going, but after I've had a nightmare experience accidentally cutting my pups nail too short I'm definitely willing to put in the time and effort. It's nice and quiet, my pup has never liked her paws being held so she already hates it but she can handle it alot longer because of how discreet it is. I have a 80 lb pit mix and it fits her nails just fine.We also use it to file down my cats "thumb" nail because he will scratch the crap out of his face until it bleeds, same as the dog it's great how quiet it is.

Doesn't Work, even for a calm dog! under powered
i used to have A Mastiff. before there was a dremel for dog nails. have used same dremel on my French Bulldog for 10+ years.seeing this, I thought it would be easier, given Frenchy has small nails.she sat patiently. by the 2nd nail I had given up b/c it takes so long to file, I began smelling burnt hair!doesn't work guys!DOG OWNERS! many complaints on here about dogs being skittish by vibrations /sound, etc.keep the cap on, turn the device on, rub yourself! then use the tool as a 'massaging' unit, rub it all over them. do it for a couple days in a row, don't touch paws, just get them used to the sensation and associate it with 'fun'.

Good for introducing dogs to nail grooming
This is a great tool to use to start introducing your dog to a nail grinder because it is pretty quiet and the grit is fine. It doesn't have a lot of power so sometimes it feels like it's barely grinding the nail, but I was using it more to get my dog comfortable with the process and it has worked! We first used the Dremel and he freaked out, it was loud, grit wasn't fine enough, and he never got comfortable with that so we stopped for a while and took him to the groomers, but that gets pricey and his nails just grow so fast. So we were back at square one and this was the perfect little tool to help reintroduce him to it.

Not for medium-large dogs.
I have a feeling this thing works OK for cats or small dogs. Unfortunately, it's advertised for medium as well. This thing couldn't put a dent in my GSD's nails unless I held it there for a VERY long time, and even then showed mediocre wear-down.I ended up just buying a battery-dremel and used sanding bands on his nails. That was the best decision I've ever made.

best 10 buck gift to my friend and I
Great for small pets 15 pounds and under if you are using this to do nail trimming once a month.Great for pets 15 pounds to 40 pounds to keep them nicely down between major nail trimming.40 pounds and bigger, if the nails are very thick I think you need to do research for a more heavy motor grinder. This was great for helping my friend with his Chi of 6 pounds who has black nails, went without any nail care due to her being a biter. This was safe and easy to use, so if she would jump to bite me, she can't get hurt. This does go through a set of batteries, they end up being remote batteries because there is still enough power but not enough for the nail grinder, this is with a Chi 6 pounds long black nails. She now can walk and is less scared of nail trimming time.So I would say if you have black nails, small animals, or any pet (big or small) that needs to get use to their nails and the sounds, this is by far the best random cheap 10 bucks I used all year. Better than the 12 bucks with Humble Bundle.Great for beginners as well. But if you are in a rush to learn how to angle it, then just don't buy it.Also I still use clippers with these to make really long nails go by faster but the first nail I always use the grinder first to tell me how far to go down with the clippers.I am happy with this and glad to have given it to my friend to get the chi use to it more.

great for small puppies
I have a 3 month old chihuahua, she is absolutely tiny not even 3 lbs yet. Let me tell you, the first time was a little difficult, mainly because of the vibration and her wiggling around. But halfway through she was completely chilled out. I have trimmed her nails 3 times so far with the small side. I would suggest maybe holding your puppy's or small dog's toes with some pressure so that the motor doesn't pull on their nails and vibrate as much, it also makes it go by a lot faster. I was super worried about doing this wrong but as long as you PAY ATTENTION to where the quick is, and how your dog is feeling/reacting, this is a full 5/5 stars. Easy to clean, inexpensive and works great. I would buy it again if I had to for whatever reason
