Like all cichlids, Males will have the most color, while most females with will lack the color of the males. The Dragon Blood is a very nice hybrid within the hobby and the picture displayed is one of our breeder males. It is not 100% known where this hybrid originated but it has become one of the most popular fish within the hobby. There is a lot of variation in the male offspring. Some appear bright red, some are more pink/orange. All of the females are light pink. THE FISH PICTURED IS A FULLY COLORED UP ADULT DOMINANT RED MALE. Yours is not guaranteed to look like this as you are purchasing a young male. *********Some Dragon Bloods have small black pigmentation spots. This is NOT a sign of illness and has no affect on the health or well being of the fish. This is a very common trait in Dragon Bloods as they are a Hybrid. It is believed that it may be due to the fact that the OB Peacock was one of the fish used to create the Dragon Blood.*********
