Craft lamp
I am very pleased with this lamp as it is very versatile. ?I am not going to use it until later in the year but I am sure it will be very useful. There is a button which you put on your chair to switch light on & off so you do not have to get up to do this. Easy to assemble & very easy to move on the wheels. A 11 watt bulb is also supplied in case you want a softer light at any time. The 20w bulb will be ideal for crafting.

solid. poseable and very handy
For her birthday last year my sister purchased a floor standing light so my mother could continue to sew without having to borrow mine. My mother is a trained professional who used to do the fine stitch work and beading on gowns and wedding dresses when every stitch had to be done by hand and every bead had to be individually threaded and sown. It is understandable, therefore, that she takes great pride in the delicacy of her stitching.Unfortunately, the lamp looked good but after less than 2 months a manufacturing fault became apparent - the screw in connector (a solid resin/plastic) split along the seam and the bulb and lamp shade ended up on the floor.A replacement was needed and this time we went for a company we already knew - the Daylight Company. I have a Daylight Company light and embroidery frame stand which I have used almost daily and it has never let me down. After looking at several that were available my Mum took a shine to this one.It comes in 3 main pieces: the base, the solid pole and the poseable arm. There are also six optional wheels, a magnifying glass, a "charter holder" and a daylight bulb.It is extremely easy to put together. Everything slots in to place - there is no need for a screwdriver or for power tools in order to set it up.The base is quite heavy giving it more balance and a sturdy feel. The golden/brass doesn't look out of place amongst our traditional or modern décor. Best of all, because it has an elbow joint above the opaque white cone shaped lamp shade, there is no need to move the whole of the stand to adjust the position of the beam. Once you have the light at the required height you simply manipulate the elbow joint to get the light to shine where you need it.The light from the daylight is clear and bright and has the benefit of allowing you to define the smallest change in thread colour. One side effect of a daylight light (bulb) that I've noticed is my eyes don't feel as strained as they do under the low energy light bulbs. This lamp isn't just for sewing, it's for anyone who does any crafts, or for reading and crosswords as a replacement for a standard lamp or desk light.

Perfect Lamp for Crafting/Reading
I bought this lamp because I was struggling when working on a complicated knitting pattern with an incredibly fine yarn (think thread weight). It was difficult to see the yarn and stitches on the needles (the yarn is silver grey, the needles dark brown) and I was really not enjoying the project.I had heard that Daylight lamps would help and although I wasn't convinced I decided to give it a try. I'm very pleased I did.The difference it makes is incredible. The Daylight lamp increased the contrast between the yarn and the needles and it's made a huge difference. I've been zooming along on the pattern since it arrived! The Daylight lamp also makes colours 'truer' than other lamps and will be perfect when the cross stitch but strikes next winter.I chose this particular model as I wanted one I could use in the living room that wouldn't look out of place. The accessories (magnifier, pattern holder and holder for bits and bobs) are all useful, but can be removed really easily when you want the lamp to look like a 'normal' lamp. (Although to be honest they don't look bad so I expect I'll just be leaving them as they are.)My only minor niggle is that the shade is plastic and I would have preferred a glass one -- but it looks fine and I don't expect anyone else will even notice!
