The product is mostly made out of plastic, and when it mentions a lockable compartment, it is referring to the two buttons on the sides that help lock the stand in its various angles. Personally, I love how light it is, and it works well for my normal laptop. Ill update, as i got this for a Wacom Mobile Studio Pro 16 inch for when im doing 3D projects or Illustration, When my Wacom arrives!Super Sturdy at the moment!

Honestly, the only thing I don't like is the fact that is too thick to travel with it. It is not big, but is thicker than my laptop. It actually can carry an iPad in it, but it would require for it not to have any kind of cover, so I doubt anybody would carry their iPad there.

I have a Lenovo Legion Y520 (pic), a Toshiba Laptop and a Wacom Cintiq tablet, for the laptops this stand will support both their weight in the horizontal position, but I can't use the angled positions, since this was meant for thin devices with a straight front and neither of them have that. I might 3D print a front piece that will solve that.For the Cintiq this is great but just as long as it doesn't move. So I'm thinking of adding a swivel hinge on the bottom for drawing.The mouse pad is a nice touch- comes in handy.
