Compromise upgrade
I bought this because my current laptop - also Fujitsu Siemens - has served me well for many years but uses Windows XP which is no longer supported by Microsoft and you can't upgrade beyond IE8 on XP. A lot of people I know have really struggled with Windows 8, so this was a compromise - Windows 7 as the operating system but a manufacturer I trusted. There's nothing wrong with this machine, but I don't find the displays and text as clear as my current laptop, I find the functionality a lot less intuitive and I really haven't noticed any improvement at all in my browsing experience even though it has IE11. I wouldn't have "upgraded" at all if it wasn't for Microsoft being a pain in the whatsit... but that's life.

German engineering with an English improvement.
I bought this purely because I need a portable. Laptops always annoy me due to their speed, unless you spend silly money. Well my first surprise was the inclusion of Installation disks. 64 bit and 32 bit Windows 7 pro plus a driver disk and, Windoze 8.1 plus driver disk. Windows 7 was the reason for this purchase plus experience with Fujitsu. First time start-up was strait forward, but as expected there was a large number of updates to contend with. 700+ MB down load can take some time unless you’re lucky enough to have seriously fast broadband. As it stands it is very good once this is done. The memory and HDD are the week points, if it has any. It comes with one strip of 1600MHz PC3 12800 CL11 DRAM, so one slot is spare. I have replaced this with Corsair Vengeance 1600MHz 2x4GB CL9. This not only upped the Mem to 8GB, but better still the memory through put jumped from 9920MB/s to 15801MB/s. Very noticeable. I then fitted a Samsung SSD 512GB. OMG this laptop is now Seriously fast. Power on to desktop or sign in screen now takes only 20 seconds. Some people spend over £800 to get this type of performance.

Very good small laptop
I wanted a small laptop to use while travelling and this product fits the bill.Initial boot and installation went without a hitch, as did the addition of my own software. The laptop is not littered with a lot of unnecessary software and removal of a few items was easy. This included Open Office, which I might have retained, had I not had a copy of Microsoft Office, which I installed as a repalcement. Not the fastest of machines, but more than adequate for my needs, while travelling and the hard drive (320GB) is big enough to store what I need, without having to carry memory cards/flash dives to hold copies of of large files, which might be needed for many of the latest generation of small laptops, with lower capacity main drives. The only exception I've made is to have copies of my films (which take up a lot of storage) on memory cards.I have not had the machine long enough to judge the battery life, but I suspect it will be adequate. The only two drawbacks I have discovered so far are that the charger is a little bulky/heavy and there is no built in bluetooth (despite the product description, which has now changed). The latter point was quickly resolved by the seller offering a small refund, which I will use to buy a cheap 'dongle'I managed to obtain my laptop at an even lower price than the one currently advertised, so mine was a real bargain and I am more than happy with it..

Good, easy to use Windows 7 laptop
I give this four stars because although it has some negatives these are quite minor to meThe negatives for me are:- The casing seems to attract smudges and fingerprints- Some of the keyboard isn't intuitive (a big down arrow to represent caps lock, the delete key in a funny place).- The speakers aren't the greatest, but they don't claim to be so I think that's fair enough. I've previously bought laptops on the basis of better quality speakers but then the laptops themselves didn't function well. The built in speakers are fine for audiobooks and TV/DVD, but I'm going to use a plug in speaker for music.- It's easy to miss the warning of the battery running low. So for me the laptop will suddenly power down unless I keep an eye on the battery icon in the bottom right.- There are no games! Given that's it's Windows 7 I was looking forward to a return to Freecell but the games folder is bare.On the more important things, I think this scores well:- The battery lasts a good time, three to four hours with several programmes running.- The operation is quite fast, opening programmes, saving etc.- I found it easy to set up and install the various things I use, like iTunes, Amazon mp3 downloader, MS Office etc.- I like the feel of the keyboard and unlike some other reviewers I find the built in mouse pad easy to click and I like the responsiveness. My previous laptop was an HP that was very unresponsive (HP support confirmed this was an issue with that model) so I'm glad of one that works. But for anyone who finds it too quick to react, it can easily be disabled by pressing the function key with F4, and a plug in mouse used instead.- There are plenty of USB ports.- Mine came already set up with Windows 7. I didn't need to load this myself as with some laptops with Windows 7 capability.Overall, it's a good, reasonably priced Windows 7 laptop coming from a reliable source. I'm a refugee from Windows 8. I tried, honestly, and I understand the point of 8 for a small device but for a laptop with a big enough screen it's just constantly annoying. So I was glad to find this.

A bit long in the tooth laptop
The Wifi has a mechanical switch which probably worked with an earlier windows. It now breaks the wifi if used. The battery has a utility which nags you to buy a new battery as the old one is a risk. The i3 processor is a bit slow to run iTunes you have to type r e a l y s l o w l y!
