OK, but you get what you pay for.
I bought this in the Prime Day deals for under £20 thinking I couldn't go wrong at the price, and still that's partly true. I have been considering buying for one a while but didn't want to spend £100 on a premium brand as I don't drive that much.It arrived pretty promptly in a nicely presented box with the all the cables you need to power it etc. Its really small, seems well made and will hide behind a mirror fairly easily. I tried it at my desk first with a USB cable and an SD Card. I could already tell you're weren't getting top picture quality, but then for the money, does it matter? Well maybe, as you will see...You need to have the camera plugged in, the capacitor/battery is good for 30s max. No way it will support a parking bump recording. I set up the date and modes etc, although it wasn't that intuitive to setup compared to action cameras I own. I don't normally read instructions but I had to this time, they were basic but got me up and running.Installation in car is with a really long 12V car cable and a pretty decent lockable suction mount. You also have the option of mounting using sticky pads but I would recommend trying the suction first. The mount allows full range of movements to get the right angle, I stuck it behind the mirror but the rain sensor cowling is in shot, so you may find a better place but at least its out of sight. It was easy to tuck the cables round the windscreen trim and round the dash in my Fiesta and bring out near the 12V port. The USB passthrough on the 12V connector works fine and is a clever idea.I've used it for 2 weeks now, its only glitched once and failed to start, it plays a little tune on start up and shutdown so you know its working without looking at it. It shows a blue power light and a flashing red one when recording and the LCD screen shows briefly when switching on and off. Its not distracting and you can just leave it to get on with it and forget its there. My 16GB card is overwritten once every couple of days with a 1 hour round trip work journey. Its prone to reflections depending on where you place it but that's expected. So it works fairly well what's the problem? The picture quality! The most important thing! I expected this to be cheap action camera level, and to be honest its not really there. Its also a long way off a decent action camera or even a decent mobile phone at 1080P. However, it looks native 1080 not upscaled 720 so that's one bonus. The field of view is perfect and you can catch both lanes and beyond. You can read number plates BUT only if the car is really close. It would be 50/50 if it would catch the number plate of the car passing you in the other lane. It also largely depends on lighting, its summer and I have used this in daylight, dawn and dusk but not at night. The quality drops noticeably in low light and I guess it would fairly useless at night. On a separate note the sound quality is fine, a bit boomy but as expected on this type of camera. So, I think it was worth what I paid, and I am happy with that. However, the question is...WILL IT WORK AS A DASHCAM WHEN YOU REALLY NEED IT TO?The answer to that is: MOSTLY.I could definitely see scenarios where you could end up without a number plate, or less than useful footage, say 25% of the time, maybe more in low light. Then there was that one glitch where it didn't start. Its not bad, and definitely better than nothing. If I had my time again I would pay more because you'll never totally have peace of mind with this.P.S. One final note, its sad to say that paid for fake reviews are rife on cheap electronics. One of my friends here in the UK has done a few to get free stuff. Use a fake review checking site and check these items out BEFORE you buy. All I'll say, is I wish I had!

Surprisingly excellent
I bought this as it was well reviewed. It was fine, no amazing extras on it. It did it’s job well. It is 1080p £30 GBPI was looking out for ages to see if there was better out there. I then bought nextbase 612gw. This was 4K. £199GBPHere’s the funny thing, for over 6 times the price of the apeman, the nextbase was only marginally better. Apeman doesn’t record speed or have gps in it but really the most important usage in a dash cam is the picture quality. It’s good, not outstanding, but I doubt that you’ll get any better quality on any other dash cam and considering the price. Apeman all the way. It is very light weight which I initially didn’t like. Nextbase was heavier but nextbase gives a jello effect because of this and apeman doesn’t.Side by side on two identical laptops. Apeman gives warmer images but nextbase polarizes better. The difference in picture quality is minimal and is not worth the price difference but apeman has basic features and nextbase 612 gw has gps and speed.

Very impressed at this price point. One issue
I didn't have alot of confidence in what the quality would be like but seemed to get decent reviews so thought I'd give it a go, I'm pleasantly surprised. It's easy to install and has a good length of cable for power, I like the touch that the charger also has a USB port on it so it doesn't use up the charging port, you can still charge a phone etc. Picture angle was good, one issue I found was the picture can have a blue tinge on startup, it slowly goes away which leads me to believe it an issue with the sensor, and I've checked the recordings which also have the blue tinge, night picture was a little dark, but it was good enough to catch close up action. Setup is easy, you can put your car reg in, screen switch off times so its not bright at night time etc, we installed it into my wife's car for a trip to Cornwall and I suspect I'll now have to get another one as I'm not going together that one back. Overall I'm impressed, and would reccomend it.

Good wide clear screen
Fitted this dashcame to replace one that came adrift and then stopped working. I'm using the suction mount in the centre of the windscreen which puts the camera in your periferal vision. I've set it to remain viewable on screen for 3 mins and so after that the screen goes blank and you only have a blue LED which flashes intermittantly. Used the 32 GB memory card from the defunt dashcam and all is working. Unless you've got a good memory you need to keep the instructions in the car so as you can remind yourself of what the buttons do. I made a larger version on the computer and put it in th glove compartment.

Has you covered when you need it!
I can safely say this is the best of the 4 different, albeit similarly priced dash cams I've used. The image quality is superb in the day and also at night meaning you don't have to worry about it missing any details. The instructions are straightforward and simple and the device itself easy to set up and then use. It also feels more premium than the price suggests, something which others have lacked in with the exterior and the internal software and hardware. All round good buy which could save you money in the long run!

A decent instruction book/ document is needed and the build quality improved.
The instructions for use are useless and I was unable to properly plug the power supply into the socket as supplied and I had to trim some material away from both the plug and the body of the camera which was being fouled. the instruction for use said very little and there was insufficient information on the actions/ operation and what to expect. The display picture turns itself off after a few minutes so I have no idea as to whether or not it is seeing and recording what is ahead! I would ask for a refund but I cannot be bothered! Hope this helps!!
