Creoseal Plus 20 litre - Light Brown - Creosote substitute - Oil based wood preserver

Purchased this to protect post and rail fencing. Been looking for ages for a good alternative to Creasote and this is by far the best. Lovely colour and let’s grain of wood still show. First treated fence last year and did a great job protecting it during very wet winter ... wanted to top it up this year. Covers easily and goes a long way. - 1 canister did 100m of 4 rail fencing both sides. Definitely recommend.

Having used "ordinary creosote" in the past I wondered what this "creoseal" would be like and the difference is it seems far more oily (which is good for the wood) and it has just the colour I was looking for. As with all creosote preservatives, you need old clothes,adequate ground covering and take care when applying near neighbours property. I found that a 5ltr garden spray was useful in getting the product onto the wood then brush out to spread and even the coating. It does take about a week to fully dry off and for the smell to dissipate but the end result is well worth the effort. I recommend the light brown and maybe try out a 5ltr pack first if you are unsure of the colour you want.

Like any similar product, use common sense and take care to avoid the fumes on hot dry days. I would recommend using a vapour mask, you can buy them cheaply from any paint store/DIY (paint) shop. Product is best applied when there's a slight breeze. Great for fencing and deck railings but absolutely no good for decking floor, too oily and way too slippery. I'd suggest this is best applied early summer, but not (as I did) just before autumn when the frosts start, or it won't soak in properly, then it stays oily all winter.

Easy to apply & covers well. Needs a lot of stirring to achieve consistent colour.

I have used this product on my decking over many years fr cheaper than decking oil and does the same job but you can smell the product for a week after application a small price to pay when saving a substantial amount of money on using decking oils

Might need help pouring substance into sprayer or next time i'll get smaller ones.Goes on easily End finish is really good. I got the ;ight one and still quite dark but happy with it.Definitely use mask as quite strong but goes after couple of days.Will definitely buy again and i do recommend.

Arrived as scheduled and used straight away. Covers very well and easy to brush on semi rough wood. The light stain took the redwood pine down to a light chestnut brown after two coats. So not too dark and perfect for my shed. Should last for a few years before it needs another coat.

It has a tendancy to sperarate and even stirring it doesn't mix it again. Makes the wood look great and instantly waterproof, beats other brands for actually penetrating the wood to protect it rather than a coating on the outside.
