Watkins Original Extract, Baking Vanilla, 11 Ounce (Pack of 3)

Deceptive!!! It says "with pure vanilla extract." However when you get the actual bottles, they say that it also contains artificial flavoring. I tried to contact Watkins online but they would not allow this. I called the next day and spoke to someone from customer care. Initially she made it sound as if the other ingredients were simply fruit juice for coloring and the propylene glycol for stabilization. When I insisted that "artificial flavoring" meant something other than those, the agent said that the ingredients and proportions were "proprietary information." When I pushed further I was told that "with pure vanilla extract " is not the same as "pure vanilla extract."

I didn’t pay attention to the size. The bottles are huge. If you don’t bake a lot, they’ll last forever. My daughter was more than happy to take one off my hands.

Mostly I use this product in my brittle recipe, that I make at Christmas time. A lot of brittle recipes don't call for vanilla or they use vanilla extract, which is a chemical that is supposed to taste like vanilla. The vanilla, plus the other ingredients that I use in my brittle making, add to the flavor of the brittle.

I’m a repeat customer on this product. I won’t use any other vanilla. Always pleased.

The product was supposed to have been used for baking cakes. It appears to be a cheap imitation of what the Double strength vanilla was. I have used the Watkins Double strength vanilla for many years. I was told that the Double strength vanilla was renamed as baking vanilla. The Baking vanilla is a definite 'thumbs down' for me.
