Lovely neat system, seems well made, ran hot as supplied but easily fixed
The Minix Z100 is a really well put together box, surprisingly dense and with a good selection of ports. I bought the 8GB RAM and 256GB SSD discounted to a very reasonable £190. The intention is to use it to run steamed TV such as BBC iplayer and it seems to do that very well. As delivered the box ran quite hot so looking online I found that you can throttle the thermal envelope that the Intel N100 runs within that and updating to the latest (181) firmware seems to have really helped, without hampering the performance. It now runs around 40C as a media player. If you want to do the same then look online for details of the P1 and P2 settings in the BIOS and the CTRL F1 keystroke to gain access, be careful when changing things!

Sweet PC
This mini PC has to be the best there is at the moment (N300 version). I got mine a lot cheaper so it is worth waiting for a limited time deal. I use this for menial tasks but it is quite powerful. I dug out some old games from 10 years ago and it plays them just like the old days except back then the screen wasn't as wide.

bargain mini PC. silent too
real bargain. well impressed.needed a new media pc for our living room TV. had to be silent and capable of 4k Netflix etc.replaced ssd before i powered it up, so to have clean and trusted win11. did clean install and all OK, no problems and licence installed automatically (in bios as someone else mentioned.)gets warm, as expected as fanless,, but not at all hot (but prob not maxed it out))really solid build and well engineered.all connectivity seems fine so far.

Very impressed
Got this to replace an old Minix Android box, it is considerably more expensive, but considerably more powerful and versatile. It runs completely silent and a bit hot, (but not too hot). While it's a vey low power CPU, the cache and fast memory make it completely useable for AV use. Pleasantly surprised.

Excellent.
This little computer is the bees knees. So responsive, just what we needed. So easy to set up and so quiet.

Small in size but big on performance
This Mini PC arrived in a bright blue box which was wrapped in cellophane, keeping the contents well protected.Inside the box was the PC unit itself, HDMI cable, power cable (with three interchangeable plug options - including a standard UK 3 pin plug) and a mounting plate, if required.Although billed as a mini PC I was still amazed by it's diminutive size. It barely takes up any room on the desk but has all the ports you would expect - allowing connection to a monitor/TV screen, mouse, keyboard and more.It was incredibly easy to set up, connecting to all my peripherals with no problems. The speed is great and it's very quiet to run. It gets a little hot but not to a worrying level.I ordered this as part of a set up for my teenager, to use primarily for homework purposes. It's doing everything we could ask for, being extremely responsive, and at £339.99 (at time of review) is great value for money.

Quick and Snappy
Incredibly quick and snappy machine, with a sizable ram and clearly built for operating at speed, it zooms through tasks involving download, file processing and general OS interactivity. For general working, it is one of the faster machines I own and is actually able to utilise faster networks unlike many devices. As many other reviewers mentioned, the 0db fanless does indeed get very hot, but this is expected as the unit is essentially a large heatsink that disapates warm air out of the top. This does mean it can be uncomfortably warm to the touch, but the running temperature does not concern me. A warning label is actually provide best practices advising adequate space and airflow, though the most critical advice is last on the list which I felt was slightly dangerous, but even still I haven't actually experienced the device being too hot to hold as of yet. The performance however cannot be stated enough. This machine is fully capable of any kind of office like workload, especially with dual monitor support and very quick file operations. As a office workstation this would perform very well. Unfortunately the USB C does only support data, which means no monitor support via USB C cable and also means limited support from laptop docks. As expected from an integrated graphics device it does struggle a little with video playback. I noted dropped frames at 1080p, 1440p and 4k was uncomfortable watching, but indeed possible. The CPU does also seem to max out quite easily, but is also expected with such a tiny unit. Gaming wise, I saw very playable framerates with 2D and lower spec 3D games (like Overcooked), however, even slightly graphically intensive games started to struggle like Rocket League, I'm sure lowering the graphics options could achieve playability. Ultimately these purposes are not the intended use case of the MINIX Z300 either though. For its intended purpose it is a very nippy PC/server which can be used for many purposes. Its also tiny enough to fill many business use cases such as POS or an internal web server. I am very pleased with this piece of kit and it fulfils pretty much anything I would need - especially when paired with a machine that focuses on entertainment. If you know what you are purchasing and that use case is not reliant on graphically intensive use cases, this is a very performant machine for the price, if you are looking for a low end spec laptop too use at a desk, but already have a monitor, keyboard and mouse, this would be a good option. It also works if you need any sort of small local home server, which would be the most common use case.
