Fantastic start to another awesome series from Ms. Valentine
Picture Perfect Lie is the first book in a brand new series, The Kings of Castle Beach by Marquita Valentine. It’s a sweetly, romantic story with just a hint of sexy.Knight King is a soldier returning to his base for deployment back to Afghanistan when he and his buddies are held up in Atlanta airport by an ice storm. Knight can’t help living up to his name when he sees a young mother who’s obviously on her own and struggling. He moves in and takes control, something his friends razz him about constantly. But, Knight somehow knows this time is different.Campbell Faircloth has hard a tough few years and being on her own with a baby that’s just a few months old is tough. Tougher than she ever thought it would be, so when Knight turns into her saviour in shiny army issues clothing, she feels herself letting go for once. After spending an innocent night together, Knight helps out again and then stuns Campbell with an offer she knows she should refuse, but still wants with all her heart. He suggests she move to his hometown and live in his house. He’s already pretended they were married, so what the heck? When Campbell is left with nowhere else to turn, she find her way to Castle Beach and Knight’s family. His mom and sister welcome her with open arms.Is this the start of a brand new beginning? Or will it all come crashing down on Campbell and her daughter Hazel when the truth comes out?I loved this story, it was a slow burner in the romance department which was carried out in a slightly unusual way due to their circumstances. But, that didn’t stop the chemistry and feelings from bleeding through the words. Knight was a really good guy, who wanted to do the right thing and was ready for love.Campbell was a little more wary and skittish at first, but then as she got to know Knight, it all clicked into place. A sweet and heartfelt ending to a gentle tale.

How I feel about this book is written in its title PICTURE PERFECT!
How I feel about this book is written in its title PICTURE PERFECT!The buildup was so beautifully paced. The e-mails, Skype calls...Is it weird to say that i love the fact that we get to see how their relationship grows without the sex?!?! Not to worry we still get to see the sweet and sexy times :)Knight and Cam were such a great couple to start this series with. I was so sad to see how Cam's mom treated her when she came home. I have such a great relationship with my mom so it was breaking my heart to see that. Knight is my second favorite army man (Tristan Lawson is still my no.1 :P). Everything about him was just perfect; his good heart, need to protect Cam and Hazel, to help his family in time of need… As for the King family – i have a feeling we haven't seen nothing yet. With all the tragedy that has happened to them they still remain strong and tight as a family. I'm more than ready to see how things will go with Quinn and Tate.As everyone knows I’m a HUGE Marquita fan…she can do NO wrong in my book and I’m so happy to see she delivered us another great book with amazing characters that we'll get to see and read about as this series continues. 😍

Great hero, good romance
PICTURE PERFECT LIES is a standalone read with a HEA. Light sexy scenes. The story is set in the Carolina's with a big family, they have their share of negative press but are now well off and quite prominent in the community. This is Knight's story. Knight is an Army Lieutenant and has spent several tours in a war zone. He is a delicious hero. His reputation for looking out for the person in need has served him well. He reacts automatically without giving much thought to what he is doing.Sitting in the Atlanta airport with 3 members of his squad, they have been in iced over conditions and are just waiting for things to clear up so they can continue back to the war. Knight notices a young woman with a very young infant in her arms. She looks lost, tired, and not sure what to do next. He immediately jumps to help her. He brings her over and sets her down in one of the guys seat and proceeds to offer his help. They receive word that they are going to be delayed over night as all planes have been cancelled. He goes to the USO and gets the last two rooms, one for his buddies and one for his wife and child. The only way he could get her in the room is to claim she is his wife. The attendant being over eager to help him sets the child up with everything she could possibly need and gives them the room. She is shocked that he would go to such lengths to look after them. Short on money and energy she is more than grateful for all his help. She explains her situation and says she is on her way home and hopefully her parents will take her in. He suggest that she go to his home, let them think she is his wife and this is his daughter. She expects her arrival home to be difficult and sure enough it is beyond bad. She winds up leaving with her brother to go to Knight's home. Her welcome is beyond her wildest dreams. They take her in with no questions. Knight has texted his sister before their plane left Atlanta and told her to take care of his wife and child. The story starts as she settles in with his family. She is troubled by the lie but Knight has begged her to keep his lie a secret. The story takes some good turns as she settles into life as his wife. They talk back and forth by face time and Skype and they start to fall for each other. There is a bit of drama as there is with life.Knight is a great hero. You can't wait for him to get home and the two of them to get together. He has some issues, 3 tours in a war zone leaves its print on his heart and soul. It is a great story and a touching romance. You will want to be Campbell. Looking at a bleak future she comes out on top. I really enjoyed the story. I found it entertaining and I definitely recommend it.I was not paid for this review. I am not a writer nor do I know one. I am not kin to this author. I am a reader and this is my opinion, nothing more, nothing less. 9/3/2019
