Why is safety in the name, if it isn't rated for safety standards?

According to the ArcOne website, these meet the ANSI Z87 impact resistance standards and are not to be confused with chemical/dust goggles (which have different standards).

Can you see through them with just normal light?

It's like looking through a colored pair of regular sunglasses Lukas. I can see through them w/normal light, however it will obviously have a tint to it because of the colored lenses. I wouldn't advice wearing them at night time when you're driving though. However they kick-ass during the day. One last thing though, I had to put a piece of foam on the bridge of the glasses/goggles because the design of the whole piece will hurt your nose. Hope this answer helps.
