Obsolete & On its way out,4 years& 2 months old.
UPDATE: December 2024. My TV has now to be left around 1 minute, after turning on, for it to "settle down" and work smoothly. It locked up on me the other day when I displayed the TV guide as soon as the screen information disappeared. At least I could turn it off, as nothing worked, and turned off the plug bar. Then turned plug bar and TV back on. A bit of technical advice informed me that many Sony owners of 2017/18 > smart TVs now have problems, including lagging, due to age and unable to access an system update, (and insufficient memory left) though I never connected it to the internet. (OS was likely an Android version, on a lot of Sony sets.) **Possible solution is a factory reset, if your technician can find it, as, apparently, it is well hidden on a Sony TV. **Otherwise, don't waste your money on a used Sony. (More information lower down, including new recommendations.) APRIL2024. This extremely reliable, high quality set is now well out of Guarantee, and no longer available from Amazon UK, as I checked "Buy Again" on the app. I have spoken to very helpful SONY UK, who informed me that they do not make any 43" models that do not require firmware/software updates; nor large screen monitors (no tuner.) So I will not be buying another Sony TV, as long as that remains their position (highly likely, as they never produced an out-of-the-box multi-Region DVD, or Blu Ray player.) My advice is to search for a Brand smart TV that does not need updating; and absolutely Sold & Delivered by Amazon, WITH, 12 months "plus 1year extra Amazon warranty" (from reading owner reviews of some 3rd party supplied TV brands.) š§ If you have set a lower price limit, or are on a budget, I now recommend TCL, as LG supply some of their screens to them,as well as Sony and Panasonic... and HI-SENSE; which I recommend for their prices, improved quality, with 2 years warranty, recently included. My next TV will be, having done my research, have UHD 4KāSold & Delivered by Amazon, for after sale service. Also, consider SHARP, as past research found they had the franchise removed, early, from HiSense, due to "damaging the brand", and the franchise was transferred to a Taiwan company - but, as a minimum, check Amazon owner reviews, and, at least, delivery by Amazon. (Thank you to the peak of 120,000+ viewers of my *purchased products* reviews, on Amazon UK, .de & .fr, which are without payment or inducements, but reviews for many items no longer available have been removed from their sites.) *MAY 2022. As good as new; no problems, or issues. Excellent quality. (I do not answer questions about the set, such as distance between the legs, when that information is in my thorough review. Read the review, or contact SONY UK, as they are paid, I am not.)**After weeks of a long slog researching, I opted for this excellent spec. & value Sony 43". I stepped up from a Spanish Feb 2018 32" budget Panasonic, which had a very good picture and 20w sound, but with worthless surround turned off to boost main speakers; had no zoom, and very laggy.(Within a few months it developed an intermittent black line on the screen, which varied in length. As the Panasonic support Tel number was an inaccessible, on our mobile, premium number, we had a long trip back to the store for them to ring the Panasonic Support line, and we gave the problem details. I was content to wait until the problem became permanent, to avoid it sitting on a work bench for months. But this led to my visiting the repair centre every couple of months, with new date stamped photos, showing the problem still existed. Looking back, this was a mistake, as the technician was a really nice, professional guy; and the problem finally became permanent around a year later. We then got an LCD loaner, and ours was taken away; but we waited weeks for a new screen from Czech Republic, and got ours back in May 2019!) The Sony fits my priorities: good reputation for quality & reliability, made /assembled in EU/UK; NOT Android (they MUST have updates, and research found if you buy a generic android TV, and the company closes down, support stops. Even if you have the support, which is stated to be inadequate, after 3 years they become painful to use; by 5 years you need a new TV - maybe having learned a costly lesson.) A+ energy use a must. Very reasonable price, under Ā£450.(The best Samsung UHD, I read, needs a lot of adjustments to get the best picture and sound,on Game setting, but you cannot remove the odd frantic motion judders and blur; and all those pre-installed apps left no room, on one, for NETFLIX.) So I thought I would be forced to have a 43" OLED/QLED; but found the first one had complaints of severe light bleed for Ā£599.00. So I stopped looking for a OLED/QLED non-android TV. I am not bothered for 4k - more make up and CGI/image manipulation. So the Sony was delivered in it's unmarked box, obviously with care, by my preferred courier. Assembled in Belgium, I believe, as Sony jointly own their screen plant with Samsung, in Korea. Set up without any issues, on strong legs, 67cm apart at widest point. It came with a 19.5 volts made in Japan transformer, as the A+ TV consumes a mere 51watts per hour(the 32"Pany uses 59w), which linked to my Panasonic mains cable. Sony support were superb, answering my call after one ring! Their patient supporter helped me disable the smart TV setting, and tune in the channels( although a good part of the problem was the remote, which needed repeat scrolling and clicks to finalize the relevant settings.) No ridiculous factory settings to adjust, though! HD broadcast channels are better than the Pany; but SD channels and DVD's really are UPSCALED but you need to be careful you choose correctly between the channels that broadcast in HD & SD at the same time to get the best off air results. A huge plus is that as the Sony is UK supplied, with FreeviewPlay; the quality channels that used to be 100% Spanish language, or mainly Span. lang., are, via our community set up,100% English - so no need for FreeSat or Sky, unless you must have UK tv. #Brexit may affect you by no longer receiving UK channels, unless the broadcaster/streamer has a presence in the EU, merci beaucoup!#This model, like all Sony TV's, inc 1080 HD model's, is compatible with Play Station 5.# The sound is very loud and clear, and very acceptable without Bass and Treble adjustment facility. The Surround cannot be deactivated - just volume reduced to "minimum"; but increasing to Max did not cause any decrease in volume from the main speakers. It sits comfortably on my cableless LG sound plate(and I recommend a sound plate over a Sound Bar, as research found that ALL suffer from occasional loss of synchronization, regardless of price, and awaiting a new advancement in technology to fix - which was supposed to be sorted some years ago.) I am using High Eco power setting, as it is too bright for my tastes, on Eco Low, or Standard settings. Extremely happy with Amazon service, their customer support, and their courier, on this occasion; and Sony Europe, of course! One piece of advice to harsh critics of Amazon - try getting thru to customer services, in these times, AND then get an engineer/technician out, for any assessment/repair within 2 weeks (or longer), from a store, or other online providers I have read about. I will stick with Amazon UK, Germany and France!

Great tv a d easy to set up and use
Always had Sony bravia tv's and they have always impressed me with the overall quality and durability, a 36 inch one I bought 10 years ago is still working well in a spare bedroom. This latest addition was easy to set up and the picture quality is great. It also works well with our old Sony sound bar so the sound is also great. Best of all this new 43 inch tv takes up less room than the old 40 inch due to the slim bezel. All in all I don't think I could have bought better for the price I paid.

What you'd expect from Sony
It's a nice TV with the build quality you'd expect from Sony. Picture and sound quality are both very good. It's very easy to set up, very self explanatory.I've dropped it to 4 stars though as the inbuilt WiFi is absolutely useless, it will connect to my router most of time although sometimes not at all. And then even when it does connect, there's no way of knowing how long it will stay connected for.And I know it's not an issue with my WiFi coverage because my ps4 which I have in the same room as the TV streams Netflix etc with no problems.Minus the WiFi issue it's an excellent TV.

Brilliant sound and picture quality
Brilliant sound quality and picture quality. You can tweak the settings too. It also has power saving modes. If you have a USB stick or drive that is larger than 32GB, you can also use this TV as a video-recorder. It also has built-in Youtube and Netflix apps. Unfortunately, I find the Youtube app very unreliable and videos often won't play, but this might be an issue with my network router's malware-protection rather than the TV. The user interface isn't amazingly responsive, but it's good enough and fairly intuitive. The interface for making and browsing recordings could be a little clearer and and more prominent.

Yet another good television from Sony
I needed a second TV for the conservatory. Having read favourable reviews, I bought this model and I'm not disappointed. As usual with Sony the picture quality is excellent and the set up was a breeze. The sound quality is good and the remote control is intuitive. I can recommend this TV if its the size you need. I always tend to buy Sony products, because they have never let me down.
