A great novel about the New York Rangers
Mr. Reilly, you have written a Masterpiece! Once I cracked it open I couldn't put it down. I still can't believe that it is your first book. When a writer can make you feel like you're in the scene they are describing, that for me is what it's all about you have succeeded in doing this with your writing. As a life long Ranger fan ( thanks to my Dad) your book celebrates the franchises rich history as well as the city they play in. Our game may be fourth on the list locally but I've always felt the Blue Shirt's are the heart and soul of NYC. Lastly having lost my Dad tragically in 2018 anytime I go to a game and see the opening and the images on the ice I'm filled with emotions, because I can still hear him naming all those When the Rangers were young! Thank you again for an outstanding book. Lastly it would be awesome if the organization made your book and if possible a reprint of When the Rangers were young available at the Garden for the 100th anniversaryMr. Reilly, you have written a Masterpiece! A Must Read
As a complete newcomer to hockey, I loved Bryan Reilly’s new book, The Last Original Ranger of New York. I didn’t expect to be so moved, but I was completely captivated. Bryan, a dear friend to be completely transparent, tells a powerful story about the original Rangers team. I became emotionally connected to the characters and couldn’t stop turning the pages. It’s a heartwarming story that tugs at your emotions. While reading, I found myself chanting, “Let’s go, Rangers,” or wiping away tears as the story drew me in.I loved reading about Murray, his wife Marie, his teammates, and the incredible bond they formed. Murray’s passion for ensuring their story lived on with the recognition they deserved—highlighting their lives, sacrifices, and the importance of teamwork on and off the ice—was profoundly moving. Bryan blends personal narrative with professional sports, capturing the resilience needed to succeed and become champions. This story will resonate with anyone, even those who don’t follow hockey. It’s a journey that stays with you long after the last page. Don’t miss it!

Great Story - Would Benefit from Editing
As the title suggests, I really enjoyed this historical tale about a game that I love. There are numerous word usage and punctuation errors that I found distracting, but overall it was a good read.

Great read for Rangers fans who love the history of the team.
I just finished it. I’ve gotta say I was a little dubious about a Rangers novel. But as a Rangers fan who loves the history of our team, I had to give it a chance.I really enjoyed it. I know it was a historical fiction, but it really felt like the author took great care to make it as accurate as possible. For most of the book I questioned where the line between the history and fiction was and could never make up my mind. It makes me want to learn more and check out the materials he credited. It also felt like it was written by someone who knows hockey from experiencing it and not just someone who has watched the game.I’d say for any fan who really loves the history of the Rangers, I’d definitely give it a read.

Don't miss this one!
Let me start off by saying I am not a hockey fan. I’ve never even watched a game. However, I have always suspected that seeing a live game would be fun.Upon finishing Bryan Reilly's debut novel, The Last Original Ranger of New York, I am now convinced that seeing a game, especially one played between rival teams, would no doubt be action packed and exhilarating. What is great about this book is that despite the fact that there is a lot of play by play narration, the author manages to keep non hockey fans like myself interested by weaving other story lines throughout. As I began to learn more about the characters and the game, I found myself looking forward to the games and rooting for "our team"!Learning about the formation of the original NY Rangers team was a treat and I loved reading about life for these newcomers to New York City in the 1920’s. This is an interesting read. I would recommend it to both hockey fans and non-hockey fans. Well done!

Brings 1920s New York Hockey to Life
Bryan's novel was able to make me truly believe I was in 1920s New York, at MSG and a part of the original Rangers team. An unforgettable story following an original Ranger navigating his life in Manhattan, his family and career at once. The novel not only entertains you but also educates you on the dynamics of 1920s hockey and NYC, through both a physical and cultural lense. I loved the "locker room talk" and learning about early-hockey dynamics.10/10 recommend for anybody looking to feel a part of hockey's beginnings while following the beginning of one of the greatest organizations in the NHL.

It is an easy read.
I liked the story mixing the Messier era and the older Merry Murdock era.
