Best popper of all those I could find (tried 5 different ones).
Best manual popper I have found. I have tried about 5, all the ones I could find on Amazon, one at a time, until I came across this one.Pros:- The stirrer is a direct connection to the paddle with no gears to hang up or leave metal filings as they wear out like several others I tried, and no flexible spring to break like another one I tried.- The lid flips open so you can dump the popcorn out. I tried one with a glass lid but you had to remove the whole lid to empty the pot and as I pulled the lid and stirrer out, the popcorn would go everywhere - what a mess. No issues with this pot.- The pot and lid are sturdy and fit together very well.- The lid does not come off accidentally as can happen with others I have tried.- The handle is sturdy and not just a piece of wood with a couple of screws like several others.- The lid will even stays in place if you flip it up, placing a slot in the lid over the stirrer as designed.I owned a popper with gears for years and it worked great. Those are hit or miss and I happened across a good one. However, when trying to replace it, all the newly manufactured ones did not work well. This one is even better than the one I owned previously.Have been using this 3 to 4 times a week for the last three months and it works great. Definitely would recommend this popper over the others.

Annoying Lid and Design
The stainless steel pan is sturdy, and it can make good popcorn. That's about it.The lid has a bunch of unnecessary grooves in it that serve no purpose other than to make cleaning it more difficult. The notch on the lid flap is not cut long enough so it can fully open up over the bar of the crank which makes pouring popcorn difficult. One reviewer showed how they used a Dremel to remedy this. Definitely a smart move. I don't see why you should need to do that in order for the flap to function well. The lid has little gaps along the hinges where the flap connects. When the kernels start popping, little bits of oil will come out and hit you on the arm because you have to operate the crank directly over the lid.The handle and the end of the crank are both made out of a cheap smooth black plastic. Not a great choice when you'll inevitably get some of the cooking oil on them so they become slick. Really don't want a hot pan sliding out of my hand.Removing the lid is not too difficult. The clips do a good job holding it to the pan. It's getting that lid back onto the pan that can be a pain in the butt. It is not ideal.I'd honestly give this thing a 2/5, but the parts are solid albeit frustrating to use. Plus, it does help you make some really tasty popcorn which made me round up to a 3/5.

Works great for coffee!!
I bought this to roast coffee in--not for popcorn. I needed to replace my old Back To Basics stovetop popper that I have been using for 10 years (yes, it lasted that long, although my husband repaired it and made modifications numerous times). I was a little skeptical about the crank being on top, thinking it would get too hot, but it doesn't. And I was a bit skeptical about the base being a bit smaller in diameter than the B to B, but that doesn't seem to be a problem.I did have to modify the lid: it doesn't lift up all the way, and it was difficult to pour out the roasted coffee (I imagine it would be even harder to pour out popcorn). I took a Dremel tool and lengthen the groove that slips around the base of the cranking mechanism where it goes through the lid. It is still a bit tricky getting the coffee out because it has to be done quickly; I am still getting used to it!For roasting, I use about a pound and a half (715 grams) of green beans, and end up with about 1.15# of a nice, medium-dark roast. I roast over 100 pounds of coffee a year. I hope this "roaster" lasts me another ten years!!Three years later and still very happy with this! Found out I can put around 2 pounds of green beans in it and end up with a pound and a half of a fairly dark roast. I haven’t worn it out~

Great for coffee roasting
I use hand-crank poppers to roast coffee and have gone through several of the standard ones with the gear at the top (which ALWAYS fails!).Decided to give this gearless version a try and have been very pleased with the construction.VERY heavy duty pot which takes longer to heat than the thinner poppers.Handle is comfortable and makes lifting the popper and dumping the hot, smokey coffee beans easy.Lid and crank assembly are solidly made.It can be a bit tricky getting the lid back onto the popper until you figure out an efficient method (I pull both large clips at the same time).Took a bit to get used to the change in turning motion and the cranking arm/hand is definitely in the smoke zone.It does a great job on the coffee roasting (I've done about 30 lbs of beans so far), and no more finicky gears to worry about!

The BEST Popcorn Popper
If you’re wanting to get rid of your old aluminum popcorn popper... this is the ONE to buy!!! I bought these for all my family members because we are so impressed with the quality and the fact that it’s stainless steel. Truly the best corn popper out there and we’ve had many others through the years. Well worth the extra money!!!

This popper makes great kettle corn. But the pot burnt.
I do have a problem . The popper has a burn on the side of the popper (not the bottom) The popcorn did not burn but the pot did.. I have only used the popper once. I seasoned it as instructed. I did call customer service at Wabash valley farms and they suggested I use baking soda paste to remove the burn make. That did not work. I think I need a replacement pot of a refund. Please contact me. 5-15-2019 The burns on the sides of the pot are getting worse. This item is defective.

Sweet & Treat
The pot itself seems to be of good quality stainless! As others have stated the lid is little to be desired. Seriously, you would think they could offer an easier to use lid! Pain to take the lid on and off, feels and looks cheap, will not prop open using the stir handle making it difficult to empty hot items from pot! Would have rated 5 stars if not for the redicolously cumbersome lid!

Got if for my wife - She loves popcorn every day
She loves it and said "give it a ten"."It pops almost every single kernel - no wastage." She likes the quality stainless steel, and she gets a kick out of the "popcorn shaped stir handle"Mostly she knows what she is eating, and is not worried about any additives or stuff in microwave popcorn.Bottom Line: Great healthy popcorn without using a microwave.

... came in a timely manner and it is as good as I expected it to be
The product came in a timely manner and it is as good as I expected it to be. It makes lot of popcorn and is very solid. It takes a little getting use to as I have been using a different style popper for the past 20+ years. My kids still will only eat the 'traditional' way I make popcorn and did not like the 'theater style' popcorn in the complimentary kit that came with the order.Amazon handled this order very professionally, and for that I give them 5 stars.

Awkward Lid
Works fine for popping corn, but the lid, which sort of snaps on, is very awkward and my wife loses patience with it and often calls me to put it on.

So happy with this product!
I have been searching for a good popcorn popper for a while. After reading reviews of this one, I decided to get it and I'm very pleased with it. I like that it is stainless steel - it's durable and heats nicely. It is quick also - the popcorn is popped within 7 minutes of turning on the stove. The best part? The popcorn is delicious!
