ProPlus Excalibur Wheel Clamp

For insurance purposes I needed a caravan lock that secured into the axle lock receiver. Once the bolt that threads into the axle was setup with appropriate spacers provided (trial and error to get correct depth) The Purpleline Fullstop Excalibur was easy to fix and remove. The lock comes with a zipper bag (keep the polystyrene which had insets to keep the lock and parts in place). The only negative I found is that the lock and key is not as secure as an AL-Ko so My insurers would only cover if Hitchcock also fitted but since the Purpleline Fullstop Excalibur is less than half the price then consider this to be a good buy. I have not used the lock using the wheel lock as opposed to axle lock so can’t comment on this feature.

Fitted Bailey Pegasus. Had to use included spacers to fit but okay. The included bar / receiver will be good if for some reason you can't get to the chassis mounted receiver. Seems very solid but easy to get on and off. Accepted by insurance company as security wheel lock.

Easier to fix than Alko locks because they don’t have to be exactly lined up but still good security going through the wheel.

You can use These either straight into the Alko slot or use the wheel clamp brackets included, so you don’t need to bother lining up the alko slot. I tend to only use the brackets as they are so easy to fit. < 1 min to fit each in and the are very compact so really no excuse not to fit even for short periods. Seem very strong. Overall very pleased as an excellent alternative to Alko.

We've used a wheel clamp in the past and it can be awkward to fit especially in the rain, and very easy to skin a knuckle or two. In contrast, the Excalibur wheel clamp was easy to fit as our caravan already had the ALKO plate fitted as standard. (It's possible to use this lock without the back plate, but not so neat.) It's also solid and insurance approved - looks good too!

Bought this lock to use on our caravan. It is great. When the alloy wheel lines up favorably with the receptacle on the chassis it locks straight on. When it does not line up there is a second part of the lock supplies which lets it be used more like a wheel clamp. Very easy to use. Quite heavy but it has to be secure! Love this lock and thinking of getting a second to put on the other wheel.

Not a bad item, its just a bit of a mare to fit when you have power movers.

It’s good because it’s a combination of a wheel clamp and also can be a wheel lock. We were very happy so bought two to go on our double axle caravan. Our insurers do request this model as this is one of the models to get approval for insurance.It also one of the cheaper locks when looking however at the end of the day it’s still expensive and would be nice if it was cheaper, but does the job well and we are happy with them so far as we haven’t had them long. Would recommend.
