I use it mainly to broil meat and its such a great asset to me
I am thrilled with this toaster oven. I had a very hard time selecting one, and I was a little concerned it would smoke based on some reviews. I live in a condo with a very sensitive smoke detector. Well- its normal they say for new units to smoke and have an odor the first time used and this one DID NOT SMOKE. The odor went away after the initial heating time. It cooks quickly and so well. I use it mainly to broil meat and its such a great asset to me. A perfect solution to prepare healthy beef and fish main courses and a breeze to clean up. I am so glad I purchased this, so worth the money and a great little oven. Makes perfect pizza and grilled cheese too! Bye bye microwave.

Update - dead in 10 months - LOSER
10 month update -It's toast. The oven has failed. The timer dial is broken and after 10 months of use I consider this a BIG fail.I expected better performance.I needed to replace an under-performing Oster oven that worked terrible. I had a very expensive oven my shopping cart when I came across this one. For the price this is an excellent oven. It is 90% over sized toaster with occasional other duties. It toast quickly and evenly and that is what I needed. My only criticism is 6 pieces of toast need to be from a smaller loaf, or better yet 3 english muffins. It looks good and does the job.

... this almost daily and it gets the job done nicely. It looks great in the kitchen
My wife uses this almost daily and it gets the job done nicely. It looks great in the kitchen. It says it will hold 6 slice, but I'd say it is more like 4 slice. But that's the same for most toaster oven, so it doesn't bother me.

It does make toast!
After nearly 20 years with my unfancy but reliable toastmaster toaster oven I was in a position in which I had to replace it.... so my research began. I was disappointed to read so many reviews of products that said that the toaster ovens rarely made good toast.... yet I don't have room for 2 devices and do heat up quite a few things for kids or lunch etc. in the toaster oven... I chose this product because it had decent reviews, was a reasonable price, and was not too large (many newer ovens would take half my counter space). I am pleased to report that the toast has all worked well - I recommend watching it until you are used to the timer. The toaster oven part has done fine with cooking nuggets etc. It does have a convection feature, which I used. It is fine. I don't think this is a high end convection oven by any means. The directions suggest you move the rack (up for toasting) and down for baking. This is VERY easy so I have complied. You set one knob for temperature (or to broil for toast), another for feature (bake, broil, convection, toast) and the last for time. You do have to turn the dial past "10" and then adjust. I find the knob a bit hard to turn. So this is probably the reason I have held back a star. Given the price point I am very pleased with the product. I do think a digital timer would be easier. But I am so pleased to have real toast - from the toaster oven!

Good Toaster for Price
I have used the toaster to make toast, frozen chicken nuggets and bagels. All came out good. One of the knobs is difficult to turn since there aren't any groves on it so I don't recommend for seniors. The pan isn't non stick so hard to clean.

Significant usability flaws forces me to give this the cold shoulder.
O designer of the Hamilton Beach 31512 toaster oven, where art thou? I would really love to have a chat with you. How could you design something like this?As a toaster oven, it works: it gets hot, it toasts, and it bings when the timer is done. But unless you are wearing rubberized gloves all day long, this toaster oven isn't for you. The circular, slippery steel knobs are so difficult to turn, making breakfast becomes the most frustrating meal of the day.We bought this unit to replace a faithful Hamilton Beach that packed it in after a decade of use. That old, solid unit had big, easy-to-turn knobs, and clear text and numbers. This oven isn't so hot. It's time to send it packing. It's toast as far as I am concerned.

Hamilton Beach 31512 Convection 6-Slice Toaster Oven, Black and Stainless Steel
Bought the “Hamilton Beach 31512 Convection 6-Slice Toaster Oven, Black and Stainless Steel” for my wife for Christmas. This is a nice toaster oven, about the size of a small microwave oven. It has tree racks one wire one flat and one deep pan. Looks to be easy to clean except for around the heating elements. Removable elements would have been nice! It has a stainless steel front and panted sides and top, front controls top has temp settings meddle has toaster, broiler, and confection oven settings, bottom is a timer that can be set up to 60 min or stay on. We tried it out on a 9” pizza and it cocks it just like a big oven. Took a little less time to cook then a regular oven but used less electricity to do the job. Being the Product Dimensions: 14.5 x 19.2 x 12 inches; 13.4 pounds. I did not care for the way it was shipped! Came USPS and was tossed over a 6 foot fence and about 6 feet inside the fence and in the box it comes in, no shipping box. I was surprised it was not damaged!

Hamilton Beach oven
Bought it a month ago. Looks good, convection is very quiet, toasting is reasonably uniform, easy to clean. Does not have a cheap look that I was afraid of based on the price. One thing to be aware of: knobs might be hard to turn, especially if your fingers are greasy and/or you have an arthritisUpdate 10/2016: 4 years later. Still happy and use it daily. One thing: markings around the knobs got rubber off, so it is hard to read on what setting you are, but by now I memorized it already.
