Great compact cordless drill for home
This drill performs great for its intended purpose: Home/light-duty work. It isn't a brawny "take it out to the construction site" cordless drill. And for that, it's priced accordingly. The drill fits great in the hand. Its weight and size make it fine for people with smaller hands, but I had no problem with it fitting in hand; a guy of average height/weight. Very comfortable. The power for a drill of this size is amazing, compared to my older bulky ni-cad drill. Lithium technology in the battery changes the perception of the drill size to power ratio. The lithium battery holds a charge much longer than tradition ni-cad batteries, so it will be ready when you need it. I own a cordless Dremel powered by a lithium battery and found the long charge time to be true.I did not experience any problems with using the chuck to hold my tools. It turns freely and doesn't bind at all, even when opened to its largest size. I use hex screw bits in a magnetic holder in the chuck, and they secure firmly. For drilling, buy drill bits with a hex shank at the bottom. You can find these anywhere, including Amazon.com (search: hex drill). They are cheap and they don't slip ! Plus, you can rapidly plug them into a hex magnetic holder in the chuck for quick changes when you are drilling a pilot hole, and then switch it out for a screw bit afterwards. All in all, this a sweet package. I read some complaining about the drill not having a second battery included, but then complaining how they didn't want to spend that much on a drill. Can't have it all folks! Go buy a construction-grade cordless drill with all the accessories; and be prepared to pony up the dollars too. For a drill around the home, that's ready when you need it, this one fills the need. ...and the LED light on the front is cool...I mean useful....too. ;)

Proven Performance - Proven Durability
I bought one of these 5 years ago for my high school special ed vocational class. It has been used nearly daily for light duty use on and off for about 3 hours per day. It's still working flawlessly, and the battery life is impressive since the batteries are so small. Used batteries only have to be recharged about once every 3 days. Also, after summer breaks, the batteries had still held their charge. I love this drill so much, I bought another one for my personal home use a few days ago to replace my near useless Ni-Cad battery drill. I love the clutch that prevents the students (and me) from running screws/bolts too far or too tight into the material. I like the two small battery system (instead of the one large brick approach), as it makes the drill lighter, more compact and maneuverable. A bigger "brick" battery may last longer during use, but once it dies, you have to wait for it to recharge. Once the small long-lasting battery dies, you just plug in the other one that has been quickly recharged and plug the depleted one into the charger.. You're never out of power. Anyway, if you're a contractor, this drill isn't heavy-duty enough for you. It's consumer-grade equipment. But if you're a homeowner, I can't imagine a better unit due to its compact size, long battery life, and power.

Good, light weight, high power 12 volt Li ion (long shelf life) drill, with cheap replacement batteries
For only being a 12 volt drill, it has a lot of torque. Also, what made me choose the Black and Decker is the reasonably priced battery replacement cost. Years ago, I purchached a Makita combo at Costco. It was a 14.4 volt NiMH battery unit that also had a flashlight (not like some of the combos now that have a saw, sander drill and flashlight) for $150 or so. When the batteries wouldn't take a charge anymor I priced them and the cheapest one I could fine was $90! For one battery. This whole drill only cost $50! The Li ion battery has a long shelf life, which was another draw back to cordless tools: when you need them, you have to wait till you charge them up. The Li ion is much better at holding a charge between uses than the Ni cad or NiMH batteries. After the Makita, I tried an 18 volt from Harbor Freight. It was strong, but heavy. And the same problem of never being charged when you needed it applied with the H/F drill. Then I got this B&D one. The other big plus is that when I need to replace the battery, they are only $30! So, for use in garage and household projects, I highly recommend this light weight, but high torque B&D 12 volt Li ion drill. For constant use, like construction jobs, I would not recommend this lower power, light weight drill.

Great Drill So Far
This drill is pretty nice. The design was pretty comfortable, nice and compact, it's the size of an impact driver/drill possibly. It arrived quicker than I expected. I tested it out without charging it after I received it, and it worked fined, although I didnt see a lot or experience a lot of power from this drill...(SO I THOUGHT). I started drilling in a screw a few days after I received the drill and it just stopped working. I though maaan, now I gota send this drill back. But me not reading the manual was the only problem. It turns out the drill just needed charging.(keep in mind I never charged the drill after I received it). So I charged the drill for about 5 hours. After I charged it and tried it out I was siked. It had sooo much power. Drove a screw right into a wood panel with little resistance. It has a nice adjustable torque feature with 10 settings and a drill setting. It also has a built in led light. Great drill for DIY type jobs and is powerful enough for commercial use , (though not recommended). I'm angry because 4 days after I purchased the drill I seen the same drill on amazon with more power a and cheaper price than mine. Nothing wrong with this drill, but I suggest buying the 18 volt drill here on amazon. It's cheaper and more powerful. 18volt was $48.00 this 12 volt was $50.00. I work in HVAC and will use. (wood drilling and driving). Dont forget to fill out the warranty for this product if you buy it.

Realmente es un excelente producto
Excelente excelente producto!!

Compact powerful quality drill
Great value when on sale and not a bad deal at the regular price. Nice size for upstairs use. Weighs less than half of what my 18V drill weighs. Drove a bunch of screws for awhile and re-charged the battery. Took only half and hour compared to 3 Hrs first use. This indicated to me that it had a pretty good run time for the size of its battery. Lots of torque. Tried holding the drill from rotating on locked clutch. Couldn't do it! Has electronic brake which stops the drill instantly when trigger is released. Feels great in the hand and looks good. Only significant drawbacks are single variable speed and an LED which doesn't focus on where the drill bit is pointed. The clutch stops are quite firm and require a fair amount of effort to adjust. This may be a factor for some people. Overall I'm really pleased with this portable tool. It's really nice not to have to go down to the basement to lug up my 5-1/2 Lb. commercial grade drill when I want to use a drill for a small project upstairs.

Great little drill to keep around the house
Great little drill and unbelievably inexpensive at Amazon. I was looking for something like this in the stores (Canadian Tire, etc.), but they had nothing in this price range for a rechargeable drill. I like how it uses a removable battery, to make it easier to replace. This drill is powerful enough for use around the house, and the variable torque for screw driving is very useful.

Good for the Price
I wasn't expecting much when I bought this. I had to drill a 3/8" hole through 3/16" steel and it tackled the job just fine. It's not a high speed drill but medium speed. It's enough speed to drill and use self tapping screws. Years ago I wired homes and had a 12v Makita so I knew how it would perform. The lithium lightweight battery is an added plus as is the headliggt. So if you want value and something that will last a light to medium user this does just fine. Black and Decker has improved greatly over the years. Besides the tough hole I drilled I screwed maybe 30 screws and I'm still on the first charge. The only possible con I can see is a very slight wobble in the bit. Possibly a cheap bearing but time will tell. I don't expect to use this drill but casually. It's a hundred times better than a screwdriver.
