Grip, Grip and more Grip!
I have finally managed to get out for a run in these and to say I am impressed doesn't even come close. The paths near me turn to very slippy mud at this time of year and just walking without falling over can be a challenge! These shoes give grip beyond what I expected providing me with better traction than I get from my regular Asics road shoes on tarmac. They didn't clog with mud like most trail shoes I have run in before. Really comfy shoes (so long as you get half a size bigger than normal). Only downside is that running on anything other than the soft stuff can be a bit jarring but what do you expect, you have to compromise on something. When the weather improves and these become less suitable I will certainly look at another pair of inov-8's .

Great Trail Shoes
Love these shoes. This is my third pair of this line. I have dropped a star this time though for 3 reasons.1. The shoes always come up a little on the snug side. The 11 fits me perfectly though. However as is the nature of the sport you do in these, they get muddy and wet and smelly so occasionally they need washing. The problem is that even on a cold wash they shrink about a1/4 size making the 11 a little too snug. I am actually only slightly more than a 10 1/2. So I had to go a half size bigger this time which leads me to point two...2. Because the shoe is a little bigger (a full size larger than a typical show for me) it rubs at my heal which gets fairly annoying and sore over 10k. Maybe this will stop once they are washed and the uppers shrink a little.3. The inside soles on them feel a bit "lumpy" when you put them on each time. This for away once you get moving but is a little disconcerting to start with. All that said, as trail shoes go they are great. Light weight, keep your feet fairly dry (until you run through ankle Dee water), and give amazing grip up and down hill on grass or thick, slick mud. You have to be careful running on a hard surface in these though (like a road or pavement) as they offer little cushioning and are a little slidey. Off road though they outshine the more expensive options easily.

Just the job!
I bought these for a winter trail race after a recce of the course in my old trail shoes provided a comedy masterclass in sliding up muddy hills and falling into sodden water crossings. Whilst brilliant fun, not a race winning strategy….These claws fit the bill perfectly, they are true to my usual trainer size although do have a narrower toe box (as expected from a technical shoe) and had me scrambling up slopes more more easily than my competitors on race day - exactly what I wanted.

Reassuring grip and traction
I am writing this after my first use on a 3 hours run in mostly muddy fieldsThey felt really comfy and the grip on the mud was really good, I had to cross some roads and run on a dirt track, to be fair didn’t expect them to be brilliant there but to be honest they were a little bit ok.Mud And wet grounds is where they belong and they did s good job.

Perfect for running through the mud!
From reading other reviews I knew that this would be a little small compared to usual. I typically wear a UK size 12 but ordered a size 13 and they fit great. The shoes are incredible to say the least. I knew the grip would be good on mud but was surprised by how good the grip was on slippy concrete as well.

1st pair poor quality stitching coming away after one run, second pair the same.
This is the second pair of mud claws that have bought within a couple of weeks and like the first pair the uppers have come away in the same place which is just below the lowest eyelet. This has happened both times on the first outing and on inspection the stitching looks very inadequate. Maybe because now the company has recently changed hands.I have worn only Mud claws for 16 years and usually buy 2 pairs a year as I run the Cumbrian fells weekly and I have never experienced this before. I have always been loyal to the brand but can now say that I will be looking elsewhere.

Just superb
These shoes are the best trail shoes i've ever owned, they grab onto the terrain like sucker cups, even if the ground is stupidly muddy! I use them for obstacle course races.

This shoe re-opens wet, muddy trails!
A fantastic shoe that lives up to its name! I enjoy the hills around Sheffield but my Pearl Izumi and Brook 9, whilst great shoes, just can’t cope with wet, muddy trails during the winter! I found the size 10 Mudclaw a snug fit, but this proved ideal, particularly on steep, challenging mud/rock slopes. And better still - after a muddy run - incredibly quick and easy to wash/ clean! Strongly recommended!
