Mother's Nature: Timeless Wisdom for the Journey into Motherhood

I purchased this the first time for my daughter in law, when she was awaiting the birth of her first child. She loved that it is told in the words of all these different women, little vignettes into their life and their philosophies. Later I purchased one for me, for the same reason, feeling like I belonged to a loving and supportive group of women friends. Then I decided to give one to my natural health practitioner, who loved it for the same reasons my daughter in law does. So, in hopes that my daughter will one day be expecting her own child, I purchased one for her, then I decided (since it seems to not be readily available any more) to order two extra for someday gifts. I hope that you enjoy its gifts as much as we have!

I did not read this when I was pregnant (my little boy was turning 2 when I came across it), but wish that I would have! I think everyone knows what a miraculous, magical experience it is to become a mother ~ and this book celebrates it beautifully! Broken down into "tidbits", perfect for when you want something to read while waiting in the dr's office or taking a rest in a comfy chair. Books like this are a nice change from "preparation" themed books, magazine articles, act...(who knew there were so many things to be "afraid" of??)that often leave you feeling insecure and overwhelmed. This book really makes you realize that there is nothing more natural in this world than having a baby. It will really make you feel more like an etherial force of nature :)

Great yoga book for pre-natal yoga teachers. This book contains lots of great readings and topics for setting a theme for a pre-natal yoga practice. Highly recommend.

I got this for myself when I was pregnant based on the reviews I read here. It exceeded my expectations - it is the most wonderful collection of poems, essays and pregnancy lore I've ever seen. It gave me a boost before our son was born, gave me the feeling I was in a global community of women who had done what I was about to do. It's such a beautiful collection of writings about motherhood. I've gifted it twice already and plan to give it again and again to any woman I love who gets pregnant. Simply amazing.

Such a lovely and inspiring book--this book is perfect for pregnant Mamas who want to read a few passages before bed or for pregnant women have reached 40+ weeks and are anxiously awaiting the arrival of their little one. I have four daughters and this book has been on my bedside table since it was given to me by a friend. The book is not only beautiful, but the writing is heartwarming and interesting too. This is not your average "motherhood is wonderful - read my story" book. This collection is full of stories, peoms, photos, art, information about other cultures, and wisdom. I have loved it and given it many times as a gift to new mothers, old mothers, and many of my kid's teachers!

This book is a rare gem. It compiles many famous writers' comments concerning pregnancy and birth. It portrays pregnancy and birth as beautiful and spiritual.It also includes different spiritual perscpectives on the different phases of pregnancy and birth. It incudes Native American, Celtic, Polynesian,...poems that describe pregancy and birth.I used this book to find a poem for my sons birth announcement.

Brought this for my daughter who is expecting her first baby. It is beautiful contemplative book that celebrates all that motherhood might be. Have brought myself a copy too!
