so the first thing i did when i got this, i connected hdmi to monitor that was on and set to the appropriate video input, then the other end to my nexus 5 while it was off. then i powered my nexus 5 on, then as soon as the jome screen on the phone came on, the same exact screen was displayed on my monitor, which is realy a 40 inch samsung tv.wow, was that easy. after got image to duplicate on my tv, i plugged in the power into the slimport open usb port...it was charging my phone quicker than the CABLE MATTER brand that i tried using for the same purpose...i had put that cable matters brand in my drawer and using the google lg nexus 5 slimport instead.image on my tv is excellent and fits exactly as seen on my nexus 5. nothing else to say other than i recommend this product.

Does not work with mini HDMI cables such as the Monoprice 15-Feet Ultra Slim Series High Performance HDMI Cable with RedMere Technology. You can identify these types of cables by the fact that one end says "SOURCE" and the other end says "TV". In order for this adapter to work, you have to use a bi-directional cable such as the AmazonBasics High-Speed HDMI Cable - 9.8 Feet (3 Meters) Supports Ethernet, 3D, and Audio Return. Bi-directional cables don't care which end plugs into what. Unfortunately, bi-directional cables are too bulky for me to use - which is why I always use mini sized cables, thus this adapter will never work for me.

works as describe. quite expensive but its worth it. quality pics is excellent and no audio lag which i expected anyway. build quality was ok. i cannot say anything. plastic wrapped still attached. im happy and will recommend. worth the price.

Works great with my Nexus 5 and Pioneer app radio.
