No need to jump to an HTC Vive if your on a budget
I’ve been using this headset for awhile now and I can confidently say you really don’t need to jump and get a Vive. The Vives pros are it has an Oled screen and the tracking is better due to external tracking. However that’s about it. Windows mixed reality is a fantastic alternative. This headset has a higher resolution screen than the Vive or oculus which minimizes the screen door effect if not removes it. The screen is LCD which isn’t as good as oled but that is not a dealbreaker at all. The screen still looks great. The build quality is not as good as the Vive but I think it’s still a very well built headset. The controllers have joysticks and pads which means depending on the game or software you can use ether or. The other advantage of the controllers over the Vive is that these controllers use AA batteries. That may sound bad but when you take to account that the Vive controllers are rechargible and you can’t remove the batteries to swap in another set and you have to recharge them to continue to use them makes the mixed reality controllers superior in my opinion. Buy a set of rechargible AA batteries and you are all set. The tracking is not as good as the Vive. It uses the camera on the front of the headset to do precise tracking. The cameras are very wide and captures the controllers very well. This headset along with all mixed reality headsets work with SteamVR which is a huge plus. The tracking is very good but not as good as the Vive. But for the price is it really that big of a deal? The other big benefit is that the headset only uses 2 cables. One HDMI cable and a USB 3.0 cable. No HDMI link boxes or external trackers and no tripods to keep set up or mount to use VR like you have to deal with the Vive. My biggest negative for the mixed reality headsets is that Windows home, the front end for anything that’s not Steam is very frustrating to use and is really intrusive. I’m definitely not a fan of the Windows home software. Other big annoyance for me is that if you set the headsets to all experiences it puts boundary lines which aren’t usefull for me personally. I really wish they would release an update to allow you to have a setting to disable that when in all experiences mode by default. You can disable it while in this mode but you have to put the headset on let the lines show then alt tab to the mixed reality software and turn off the boundary lines. It’s annoying because you have to do this whenever you start an application, even if you have launched before. And yes this affects Steam VR content which is why it’s annoying. If it doesn’t bother you then this won’t be an issue but I hate this about the mixed reality headsets. I know I keep comparing the Vive to this but that’s because the Vive is the headset everyone thinks they need. The Vive is great but if your budget conscience and or prefer the ease of use that the Windows Mixed Reality headsets offer then I don’t think you can go wrong. It’s very good and is absolutely an amazing alternative to buying a Vive or oculus.

Refur...but
I could use the headset without glasses and I have many eye problems. It worked at 1st but then the headset would not track and the hand holds would not pair even when the computer said they did. Tried to buy just the hand held but there were none for sale so Amazon refunded my money anyway which was great and the head set goes to the trash. Useless. But to be fair they were refurbished. I think it’s also fair to say they have a amazing picture of everything.

Exactly what you'd expect if not better.
Using this with a high end GPU is incredibly immersive. It tends to get blurry after a while, and I haven't figured out why. However, by that time it's all my eyes can take. Really fun experience, but not something you can use for long periods of time. Will eventually cause headaches etc, but well worth the experience. Very satisfied with these. I can't compare to anything else, but I was amazed tbh, and it's very hard to make me excited about much. Only thing I wish was different is the head mount. It's comfortable, but can slide around, and gets a bit awkward when the visor is lifted (which is a good feature just awkwardly weighted) this isn't a turn off though.

Fun system!
My 14 yr old son loved this gift! Even we adults had some fun with it. Make certain your computer is up to date with the latest windows and can handle this system. Overall very pleased.

Great Product, Great Price.
Lenovo Explorer is the best Windows Mixed Reality headset available to date. It may be best value for your dollar as well, though the Acer has slipped in price recently.

It was a refurbished unit
Didnt check out vr headset until 2wks later. It had plastic clip broke, and the display seems a bit blurred. I didnt have much time to check it out until later. Item was purchased as refurbished. Not sure I recommend this item, I didnt seem to get a good item, but past the return stage, so it just sits in the corner.

Not a bad VR experience
The Lenovo Explorer coupled with Windows Mixed Reality isn't actually as bad as some people make out. At the time that I purchased this, my GPU was only a Nvidia GTX970 and WMR worked fine. I only started to experience issues when I then tried to use it with Steam VR. I've subsequently ended up having to buy a new GPU (AMD RX590 £200) but be aware that if you go down a simlar route, you will probably have to uninstall WMR and Steam before it all starts working again. having the extra GPU performance and more graphics RAM has made the whole experience much better. The only issue now is that the controllers chew through batteries so fast, most I have achieved is 1 day, but that is with me and the kids on it all day so it is probably to be expected.
