Great strut compressor
This is a very well made and easy to use strut compressor. I grew up using a branick. Like them both. I only lean to the OTC because you can move it around easily.

OTC cheap out on packaging
OTC cheap out in packaging, unit arrived with a huge scratch on back support brace/panel. Had to touch up to prevent rusting. Emailed OTC customer service and haven’t rec’d a reply, looks like no one works at OTC. If you’re going to spend $1k on a tool, look elsewhere where there’s customer support.

This is HEAVY DUTY.
Fantastic. Can’t get a better off-vehicle strut machine. Even for obscure vehicles it handles them no problem.

OTC lacks common sense
Beefier than the first model, when it comes to the Arms and the Clamps for holding the spring. it,s all-round better. have to touch up a few spots due to how it was packaged!

The Best
This tool was cheaper than the cost of getting my hand fixed in 2017 when I had one of the typical cheapo rod and clamp style strut compressors slip and fail. The entire tool seems really well thought out and if you follow the directions you cannot go wrong. The locking trunnions and fingers that clamp around the spring coil are solid and IMO give this a one over vs the Branick style for control ability . My only ding on this would be the handle connection is floppy and loose, the mounting bolt is tight but it just allows the handle to wobble around because of how it is made and comes together.
