The TV needs to have all of the 3.5mm (headphone) jacks required (three for 5.1, four for 7.1). If the TV has the six or eight RCA jacks for surround channels (more likely than surround 3.5mm jacks) you could get cables for each one to convert 3.5mm to two RCAs. Most likely you probably need a separate receiver, though, with HDMI from your TV to the receiver and I expect the RCA cables mentioned earlier to connect these speakers. I could be wrong but I think that's what you'd need.
