Looks good, works, but it has a few faults.
I've had the Levoit LV550 for a few weeks now, using daily and nightly and it's a little hit and miss. The auto feature doesn't work and it doesn't turn itself off; I've had the entire area around the Humidifier saturated. The manual setting is good, and it will turn itself off at a given humidity percentage. This is easy to set once you work out how. As another review mentioned, it's not like it is in the manual, but play around and you'll get a good setting. The humidifier looks good and has a clear bright display. The image I've attached shows how Auto can fail, but also how nice the product looks and how clear the display is!The variable output works well, with clear differences between output level. This is easy to change, but it can throw it out of the humidity level you have set.The remote works well and is convenient. The light, while an okay glow, doesn't provide much illumination. If you like a night light, its similar in intensity. The timer is great, and I use this at night. It would be good to have a switch-on timer, or an off then on function, but it can't do anything complex like this function. The timer is a count down, and it doesn't have a clock. You can turn off the display, and this was a big selling point for me. The display is clear, and easy to set a timer from a distance and then turn off the display. The product doesn't feel well designed as there are things that make it clumsy to use, which for the price is expected. Quality control also isn't great and mine came with a small dent in it and finger prints. Again, I'd expect this for a random brand name and low cost.If you live in an urban area, then this would probably be quiet. If you live somewhere quiet, then the noise at night is noticeable but I sleep fine with it on. Just make sure you have tested the programme you have it set to so that it turn off.The warm function does make a difference and it feel warming rather than cooling. It's not hot and the vapour distributes over a wider area when warmed. The warm setting does make more noise, and I couldn't sleep with the warm setting on.Cleaning is tricky, but I would expect cleaning to be a pain on all humidifiers, but this is where the design quirks make it tricky. If you use tap water, it evaporates the water leaving the minerals behind, so scale builds up quickly in hard water areas. It has a small cleaning brush with a scraper, but you need to clean it every 3-4 uses to stop it building up, and you need to clean the base and the bottom of the reservoir. The base unit will always have water in it, as the "out of water" sensor is higher than the ultra-sonic evaporator plate. You also need to drain the base unit to clean it, this means you need to carry the whole unit to a sink. This makes the reservoir handle useless as you can't pick up the whole device by the handle as the reservoir only locks on one side. If it had a locking lip on the opposite side of the reservoir to the locking dial, it would probably be strong enough to carry the whole unit as the majority of the weight is in the water.Filling the reservoir is easy enough, but there are no hand holds. It feels like the handle is on the wrong side. The stop is well made, easy to unscrew when tightened and this is down to them picking a good o-ring on the seal.Overall the product works in that it output water vapour, but not as well as the designers intended and the quality control is disappointing. It's worked well enough that I want another humidifier for down stairs, but I don't think I could pick this one again, which goes against my need to buy things the same.

3 stars - happy purchase but noisy
Update after a few months of ownership: It's actually pretty noisy - it whistles and rattles a bit. The cleaning instructions are to use vinegar, but there's a buildup of what I presume is limescale on the ultrasonic transducer bit and vinegar doesn't get rid of it. I live in an area with soft water. My guess is that the noise is due to the limescale crystals. I might try a descaler to fix that, but the cleaning instructions make no mention of that.Original review: I've had this product less than a week, but it's a good buy so far. After looking at many others on Amazon, I chose this one because it looks a bit stylish and it has cold and warm mist functions.I was a bit worried about the warm mist function in terms of safety, but I've put my hand in the mist stream (even though you're not meant to) and it was only a bit warm, so it's not like steam from a kettle. The warm mist takes a while to get going, so you'll still be getting cold mist for the first 10 or 15 mins. It's reasonably quiet, but not silent (I don't think any product can be). When it's putting out mist, there is a faint whirring sound like a tiny fan blowing and then the occasional trickle and drip of water internally. It's quieter than rain on your windows for example. There is also an audible click when the mist turns on and off if you're targeting a humidity %.There is a blue nightlight that can be turned on/off independently, as can the LCD display.I thought there was no cleaning brush initially, but it lives in a slot in the base below the tank.My only minor annoyance is the different modes of operation don't seem to match up with their description in the manual. With the "auto" mode, it's meant to target a given humidity based on the ambient temperature. Below 20°, it's meant to aim for 70%. However, even if it's already above 70%, it continues to belch out mist. There's another mode where you can specify the humidity % to target yourself. The manual says that the mist will turn off when reaching that level, and turn on again 3% below the set level. I set it for 70%, and it turns off at 70% but turns on again at 69%.The humidity sensor (and probably temperature) is connected to the power cable.I haven't tried out the remote control yet.Emptying and refilling the tank is easy enough, but when you lift the tank up there will be a pool of water left in the base. The instructions are to tip out that water, whuch I tried into a plastic basin but it's impossible to avoid spillage. Next time I think I'll ignore the guidelines and carry the whole unit (by the bottom, not the handle on top) to the bathtub to tip the water out.I'd give 4.5 stars just because there are some things that are not perfect, but I'm still happy with it.

quiet, stylish and effective
I am quite impressed by this purchase. Beside being a very stylish piece of furniture, it works like a beauty! It's quiet and easy to use. The little LED light is also helpful (especially if you bought it for baby's room like I did) and you can have it on or off. There are two nozzles which you can adjust. If I had to find an issue with this humidifier would be the poor choice of handle design...it's in a place where you would think that it's meant to lift the whole thing, rather than just the water tank. But this just requires reading the instructions and reminding your husband about it once in a while...

Best valued product.
I was actually browsing for prods that could help me cope with the changing temps because the weather right now is fluctuating to being cold and then being warm. Using my portable heater makes my room warm.. too warm in the middle of it being turned on that i have to wake up sweating and then adjusting it again to fan mode to cool my room.. and vice versa. The humidifier provided the trick as even if i put it on warm mist, there's still the coldness that goes with it, so i dont have to readjust the mode again and again plus the scent of mint from the essential oil provided a bonus.Over all it's a good product. Best value for all its worth.Thanks. :)
