Horrible construction - definitely not what they used to be
I recently needed to replace a Malleoloc ankle brace. It was 20 years old (yes, it lasted that long), and the only reason I needed to replace it is that it FINALLY started to come apart. The velcro was even still good!). When I received the product, I opened up the box and found the images below - the padding is COMPLETELY COMING OFF THE BRACE! Given the high cost of just one brace, how on earth is that acceptable?? This is after the had already purchased one two years ago, and the clip at the bottom broke off and I lost it. I figured that first one was a fluke, and therefore didn't pursue a replacement. However, after this last purchase, I am horribly disgusted at the lack of quality in this product now. The original brace design and construction was amazing, now it can't even handle being shipped - how am I supposed to trust that to protect my ankle??

Best brace ever!!
This brace is low profile and fits in most shoes and under most pants. It is molded plastic and fully adjustable. It holds my surgically rebuilt ankle tight in place but is comfortable to walk in. I cannot run but I imagine that this brace is tough enough for most sports--coming from a basketball player :-) This brace is easy to clean and comfortable to wear without a break in period. I highly recommend it and I have been wearing nearly every brace on the market since 1994!!!

Comfortable, light, low-profile ankle brace giving excellent support for a weak ankle
I used this ankle brace years ago while recovering from a bad ankle sprain. It is very comfortable, light and not too bulky, fitting in sneakers and loose flats. It gives excellent support and I was able to walk through sand dunes on a trip to Jordan with no damage to my still fragile ankle. I recently purchased the right ankle version due to severely spraining my other ankle. It wasn't useful at first as there was too much swelling for it to fit comfortably and tightly but now that the swelling has mostly gone down I am finding it excellent support now that I have come out of a full walking boot and becoming mobile again despite my ankle still being extremely weak.

This actually fits as stated.
This is a great product for a normal sized guy but it was bought for a guy 6' 8" with a size 16 foot, so it was better than nothing, and worked much better than expected, but we will have to keep looking. So if you're normal sized give this a try as I am not trying to down this.

Ankle Brace
I have a traumatic acute disrupted lateral ligament of the ankle complicating degenerative arthritis. When the swelling and bruising had mostly resolved, I began using the Malleoloc ankle brace to support the ankle and relieve the pain of walking. I had tried Ace wraps and an air-type splint without any relief. The Malleoloc fitted perfectly [over a sock, after some trial and error on bare skin]. I use it without any problems in my usual jogger, Propet shoe and Muck gardening boots. It allows flexion/extension at the ankle [subtalar] joint and restricts eversion, and particularly inversion [which stresses the damaged ligament]. I wear it most of the time during the day without noticing it. I have walked up to 17000 steps in a day with it, about half power walking. I could not do this without this brace because of pain and instability. It provides exceptional support on rough terrain and symptomatic and functional improvement. I will wear it until the ligaments heal - it is now 6 months [follow up MRI next month].

Excellent ankle support
I have a permanent condition that requires my ankle to have added support. The Bauereind MaleoLoc is a perfect solution for me. I've been using it for a few years now and it's worn every day. I get about 6-8 months use before I need to replace it. This product is often categorized as rigid support but I find it to allow plenty of movement yet provide great support. I don't even know it's there. Awhile back the design was changed of the plastic support so that a portion of the support is applied to the center of the bottom of the foot. That small piece has proven not to be very comfortable at times so I just clip it off with a scissor. Lace up and other "less restrictive" supports do not provide nearly the appropriate support as this product. It does seem to be at the upper end in price compared to others but well worth the additional investment.

An important part of healing my posterior tibial tendonitis
I tried a different (equally expensive) brace before the Malleoloc. The first brace had too much pressure on the top of my foot and I started to have tingling (nerve irritation). So I ordered this brace.I am between sizes and I went for the smaller size, size 1. This worked out well. However at first the brace rubbed on the inside of my foot (like new shoes can but in a different area of the foot). I used "New Skin" and flexed the brace and within a week the brace was good.I have posterior tibial tendonitis (and I pronate). This brace has helped a great deal. I also do strengthening exercises and switched temporarily from running to elliptical. It has been 2 and 1/2 months and my ankle is 95% better.

Durable and really protects from pronating your ankle.

Recovery time is worth the price
This was recommended by my physio to strengthen my loose ligaments. It helped like a treat! It does take a bit of getting used to in terms of strapping it so do follow guidance from your physio. Also recommend wearing it over a longer sock (not a trainer sock) if you are wearing it at night. You do get a touch sweaty which can cause rubbing which is uncomfortable. I did sock this a star as the rubber cane away from the plastic on the base really quickly which was frustrating considering the cost. But it lasted me the 3 months or so of wear!

Hold my ankle safely in place 👍🏼
After tearing my ligaments and doing nerve damage I needed something to keep my ankle on place. This fits well and is easy to wear. It does widen trainers slightly but very glad I got it
