The original Sour Patch Watermelon was once (still is?) my kryptonite. I love it. Alas, my weak enameled teeth do not, so I think fondly on my time gorging myself on them.So when I had the opportunity to try these, which are watermelon-strawberry, I'm like, "Oh, one bag can't hurt." And for $15, you get a whole BOX.First, I checked if they glow under a blacklight as claimed. They do, but it isn't the whole piece of candy. Each has little UV-reactive flecks that glow. That's fun and novel, but unless you're snacking on these during laser tag, galaxy bowling or golf, or Spencers, most people won't be able to enjoy that fun quirk. Who wants to get a UV flashlight out for snacks?These are chewier and stick to my teeth more (oh NO!) than classic Sour Patch Watermelon do, which seems odd to me - and means I probably can't have these very often if I want to preserve my dental health.Flavor wise, they are indeed a mix of strawberry and watermelon - they taste good, and I prefer them over a classic mixed pack of sour patch kids, but not over the watermelons ones. They are more tart than the watermelon ones are, too. I ate a bag and wow, my tongue is a little stingy! Not in a bad way - about what you'd expect from sour candy.This pack of 12 ends up being about $1.25 a bag, which is reasonable for candy at the moment. I wouldn't buy another case - not because I dislike them, but because my hygienist and dentist will kill me. If you like sour candy and those flavors, you'll like these!

Sour patch have been my go-to candy for movies for years now. Whenever I review gummy candy, I'm always referencing sour patch as at least one comparative because they really are the gold standard of gummy candies.These pass the test, still the best. The taste is great, texture is the perfect balance of bite vs gel. The black light reactiveness doesn't add anything weird by taste or texture to these. They're still great.They're in individual bags that aren't too much, but not that phony shrinklflation "fun size" used by so many candies now that only have 2 or 3 pieces. What's fun about that? Nope, these have 87 grams per individual bag and at the time of this review, this listing is for a box full of bags. For perspective, the movie theater box is now down to only 99 grams.

Sour patch kids candy are a timeless classic and I had to try these! These are fun and yummy and are great for any time of the day! Great family size for families or if you just want to stock up on this delicious and fun flavor! They really do glow under black light!!

Overall these things are exactly what they claim. The blacklight trick works, in that there are little flecks of glow unevenly throughout the candies. I don't know where you have to eat them for that to really matter though, unless you've got a friend with a stoner older brother or something.Quality-wise, these are perfect. Exactly what you would expect from normal retail candy. They are a little soft and tend to stick to my teeth, but not for too long or too badly. The flavor is great, with strawberry on the outside and watermelon in the gummy itself.The misleading part, and the missing star, is because each small packet is 3 servings. That would be fine, if it wasn't clearly designed to let kids to eat the whole thing all at once. The problem is, it would be illegal to call that packet a serving. Each one has over 150% of the allowable sugar. All of it, for a day and a half. Don't eat any more fruit, no soda, no anything else with any sugar at all. That is wildly high even for candy, and the packaging is designed to trick you into eating significantly more than is safe.

How can you go wrong with these guys? Answer - you can't! This strawberry watermelon flavor is delicious, and this package is a great value for TWELVE good sized bags, perfect for goodie bags or stockings. Although most people likely don't have a black light to enjoy the glow, I definitely recommend these for flavor alone. They all arrived fresh, nice and soft.
