Hi. ProGrip will work with any mobile device between 58mm and 90mm wide, with and without cases. According to the Samsung website the S22 Ultra is 77.9mm wide - so yes it will fit!

When using with mag safe case does this actually have a magnetic hold as well or is it just friction?

No magnetic hold. You need to check out the "SnapGrip" version by the same company. Note: The snapgrip has a much smaller form factor and is not as good as this version. This version holds your phone MUCH better.

Will this work iPhone 13 max?
