Booms Fishing Z1 Fish Mouth Spreader

They're not stainless, it has a chrome plating, and when they get scuffed, and or the plating starts to flake off, it will rust quickly. Mine came with a scuff. I should have listened to the product description instead of people leaving reviews. Can't fault the seller.

These spreaders are STAINLESS steel and nicely made in my opinion.They are a little pricy, but worth it for stainless steel.I use the 10 inch spreaders for water bottles, MSR stowaway pot lid lifters and of course for fish mouths.To use the spreaders for lid lifting, you have to angle the end tabs under the lid but once they grab, the lid is held very solid......On a side note.... I have seen several You-Tube videos of people using spreaders to hold stainless steel (Kleen Canteen) water bottles hanging form sticks over fires.I am not saying that the way they are doing it is wrong but I whittle a notch in the stick so the spreader doesn't slide down. Then I hang the bottle form the BOTTOM curve of the ring so that I can use a stick thru the middle of the ring to take the spreader/bottle combo off the hanging stick. This saves fingers and, if you are lazy like me, you can take your bottle off the fire without having to get up to reach it where it is hanging.

Enough strength for the biggest of jaws. Price was over the top, but having bled a lot from those toothy critters, it's probably a good investment.

Its a pretty simple piece of kit and it does what its supposed to do. Cant beat it for the price!

Should work good on pike.

I gave my jawspreader to a friend and bought another at a national fishing store - bought the store brand. It was horrible. A big pike just glanced sideways at me when I put it on his mouth. This one is thick and strong. The on-line description could have been a little better. I used it's weight to determine if it was the thickness and strength I was looking for.

Nice product

Really nice. Had several mouth openers before - this one is my favorite so far. Higher spring tension, larger/longer overall (spreads wider), no rubber/plastic wrapping - nothing will fall off or wear out, really easy to wash.
