Reliable connectivity
I purchased a refurbished unit to replace a Samsung SCH-LC11 hotspot that had a second battery succumb to swelling (I didn't stick to my regimen of regularly unplugging the unit overnight) and that had issues with frequently disconnecting. We live in rural southern Maryland and our house is surrounded by woods - signal strength for our location is iffy. Various reviews indicated this unit was good at maintaining a connection and some reviews suggested it might do so better than a subsequent mi-fi model. One wrinkle was that the unit arrived without a sim card, which hadn't occurred to me as a possibility. However, since our data plan is with Verizon it was fairly straightforward to go online to Verizon, move our sim card into the 890L, deactivate our Samsung and activate the 890 L. Thus far the unit has been excellent at keeping a connection despite a relatively weak (2 bar) signal. I haven't yet determined how long or well the unit will work on battery power, but for our typical use portability isn't a major concern.

Verizon Hotsport
My other unit was stolen. Verizon was charging me for the service even though I had a police report showing that this was one of the items stolen from me at the Atlanta Airport. They said that I signed up for that service, oh well. I could continue paying for it regardless. So, I ordered one off of Amazon. It was in good condition, it works well, and the price was excellent. I would recommend this product. I have never had any problems with this unit hooking up with the computers or with the four G system.

I love this hotspot.
I found this product for the perfect price on amazon. I bought it because it was newer than the one I already had, and I didn't want to renew my contract. I like the features on this device. The mini screen is perfect for checking the amount of used, and also how many devices are connected to it. You'll also be able to tell when you are on 4G LTE right from the screen instead of you having to remember blinking color lights. Very impressive device, I highly recommended this item for anyone looking to buy a hotspot.

Misrepresented
I bought this thinking to use intermittently by purchasing monthly fill use at Walmart, Verizon, etc.It did not come with a SIM card. after time spent figuring out how to proceed, including visits to Walmart and even the local Verizon wireless factory store - which was NOT authorized to deal with this - I had to travel to the next state to a Verizon main office. There they provided a SIM card and informed me that all 890L JetPacks are not the same. Some can be filled by monthly purchase, some need a subscription. So now I have a subscription with Verizon, albeit I can turn on & off periodically.I find the no long contract in this ad misleading. Add to this the 890L cannot attach an external antenna, and I'm not happy with the product or the vendor.'

Great WiFi Hotspot!
This hotspot work great when you are somewhere that doesn't have decent WiFi. I had borrowed a friends for a working visit at my parents and it was great. I researched this model against the newer one and a higher percentage of users preferred this older one. I only use it on occasion so I do the prepaid data. Unfortunately if data isn't used during the month you lose it.

Verizon 4G beats my cable connection speed sometime
Verizon 4G beats my cable connection speed sometime. Reliable, easy to set up. I used to rent those for on-site wi-fi access , but ended buying unit . Easy to activate and $ 40 for 3 GIG of data , though overpriced, worthy when client is breathing on your navel.

Battery NOT Included
The unit did not ship with a battery and after re-reading the product description, I found no mention that you also need to purchase one! That is a lot of crap! Fortunately for me, I purchased a sim card from the local Verizon store ($20 + tax) and they had an extra battery available. The unit did have the power cord and there was no sim card (as expected).
