Philips Norelco S9721/89 Shaver 9700 with SmartClean, Rechargeable Wet/Dry Electric Shaver with Cleansing Brush Attachment

Im not usually one for writing reviews but I feel compelled to do so. I read so so many reviews on these razors,and I gotta tell ya i read far more negative reviews then positive. I came close to shutting the book on this purchase,then one day i looked in the mirror and saw facial hair i didn't like. As a quadriplegic shaving is a chore and one that is on going, if I shave at night before bed i need another shave by noon. So I said hell with it ,if I don't like it I'll send it back. Well I was pleasantly surprised! I love the way it fits in my hands ( not having very good dexterity) the power button is easy to push! And most importantly it gave me a very very close shave! it's a game changer! I haven't even tried shaving wet yet, I could only assume that it's better. And the self cleaning is awsome too. They say you have to replace the blades after about a year for around $50. I don't care, I spent that much on expensive razors. The fact is, it's not quite as close as a razor blade shave,but it's damn close. I can live with it. I give the 9000 series 5 stars and 2 thumbs up!

Having spent more than a year with this shaver, I've come to know it pretty well. Here's my take on it.This is clearly intended for people who shave either every day, or every other day. When it first arrived, it had been 3 days since my last shave, and this shaver tugged, yanked, and left me with a very patchy shave that I had to rescue with a manual razor.Not being able to use it while it's plugged-in is annoying. Back in 2005, I bout another Norelco for half the price of this one, and it could shave and charge simultaneously.On the topic of charging, I shave every other day, and an average charge lasts me about 2 weeks. An average shave takes me about 10 minutes, uses up about 10% of the battery, and the battery loses 1% charge per day that it sits idle. A full charge takes about an hour. They tell you to let the shaver run all the way down between charges, so I have to assume it must have a Nickel-based battery, rather than a Lithium-based battery.I find that this gives smoother results if used in the shower, and with shaving cream.I have very coarse, fast-growing facial hair. I can grow a full beard in a week. This shaver does give me smoother results than a safety razor. However, it requires a lot of work and multiple passes. Thankfully, you can really press this shaver into your skin without any irritation resulting, but unfortunately you kind of need to in order to get close and smooth.The shaver started asking me to replace the blades at almost exactly the 1 year mark. A cleaning fluid cartridge lasted me about 2 months, but you can clean it just as well in the sink. The cleaning cycle in the stand takes something like 3 hours, but I can clean it by hand in 30 seconds.Perhaps, most importantly, more expensive does not mean better. I learned this the hard way. My previous Norelco was half the price, and a better shaver. This one is slower, more delicate, more fiddly, and doesn't offer any real tangible advantages over the cheaper models I've used. It still gives a good shave, but you can get the same shave for less. The stand just takes up a lot of space and doesn't do anything terribly useful. The travel case looks nice, but this thing popped apart while traveling, and I had to figure out how to snap the case back together.Overall, it's good, but I'd say to get a cheaper model.

The product comes in a frustration free packaging, for me it was a brown box which was badly crushed on one side perfected packed in outer box.Now coming to the actual problem, frustration free package is okay, had received many in the past undamaged but the Smart Clean unit that comes with Norelco 9700 is a "Smart Clean Pro", but this special package contains a "Smart Clean unit" very cheaply made without the ring, Though the Smart Clean system has its issues that I may live with but the cheap plastic construction "Made in China" does not justify the price paid.Also beware the picture given in the description is for a Smart Clean Pro with a illuminating Ring but the product I received is a Smart Clean unit that comes with 9300 series or lower. Please see the pictures, I have attached what they have sent me, what it should be and the difference.I am feeling bad for the first time users who accepted the product as what it should be and Philips in the name of cleaning brush and low price they are trying to clear this cheap stock in a package.I would request Amazon to remove the incorrect picture from description and Philips to get their act together and not cheat customers.

As another reviewer indicated, ans as I discovered after receiving my order, the cleaning station shipped with my razor was not the "smart clean pro" that was suppose to be included. Instead they shipped a cheaper unit that lacks the stage and status and progression of the cleaning function. It's frustrating that manufacturers are allowed to mislead consumers and I am expecting Amazon/Norelco to ship me the correct cleaning station. In the meantime you've been warned....what you see is not what you'll be getting!

Siempre me he comprado la rasuradora más avanzada.... por q tengo mucha barba y es importante para mi... en esta ocasión se nota la tecnologia me deja la piel de bebe sin tener que dar muchas pasadas.... el samartclean se me hizo espectacular recomiendo mucho comprar la rasuradora con el.... la pones a cargar y te limpia la rasuradora dejandola limpia como si fuera nueva....!

El artículo llegó incompleto le falta la parte para rasurar la patilla cambié mi calificación ya que regrese el artículo y me lo cambiaron este llegó excelente y hace su trabajo muy bien la cara me la deja como pompi de prinsesa

tengo casi 40 años usando razuradora eléctrica de esta marca, asi que siempre estoy confoerme con el tipo de afeitada que te proporciona este sistema.

Lo mejor q existe para rasurar

La máquina es muy bonita, proporciona una afeitada suave, no irrita la piel y el sistema de cabezales rotatorios es excelente. Buena inversión.
