Perfect for expansion
This Netgear switch allowed me to expand my warehouse data collection capability by simply connecting to a 110v power source. Immediately, I was able to expand to up to 23 additional channels without signal loss. This item is great for anyone who is looking to expand their existing equipment and the CAT5e cable couldn't be easier to use. We can also adapt our security cameras using the same switch! All around, this is the best and most economical way to enhance your networking capabilities.

Maybe too simple, but it works....
This switch works very well, as near as we can tell... It would have helped if even a tiny bit more of "use" information had been included in the box. The "directions" are basically a picture of a suggested layout - and that's it. However, in our case, and probably many others, that suggested layout wasn't nearly enough to get everything connected without problems. We have a DSL wired/wireless modem/LAN and an Airport Extreme wired/wireless/wan/lan and several Airport Express's - with a mix of PCs, imacs, iphones, ipads, etc. The AE is setup as as "bridge" from the wired/wireless DSL modem, one Express is setup up as a wireless extender (for the AE's wireless), and the other Airport Express's are set up as airplay devices to upstairs, downstairs, and patio stereo systems. Also in this mix are four Rokus, an ATV2, IP cameras, 2 DVRS, a NAS, etc. We got the switch because we'd gotten to the point of plugging and unplugging things "as needed" - even with the additional ports of an older and smaller Dlink switch we'd had forever. For the problems we ran into, a managed switch might have been a better choice - at least we might have seen sooner where some of our problems were... Then again, maybe not - for a while, everything stopped working... So, what would you have to manage with...? After a bit of trail an error, and recalling our ancient networking experience, we just plugged and unplugged things and watched the flashing lights to see where the "hogs" were that were choking the setup. (Hint: Only plug in the A Ex wireless extender to the switch - leave the other A EX's unplugged after programing them.) After that, things settled down and we could go back to figuring out where our priorities were and began rearranging our connections between the DSL LAN ports, the AE Lan ports, and the switch ports to suit our needs as we saw fit. A switch, best used, keeps, for example, back-up traffic between computer, "A" and NAS "1" away from traffic like, "Internet Netflix video to "C,"" and, "cameras 1,2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 to DVR 1" away from everything else. In our setup, we could have probably used two, or, maybe even three smaller switches to fine tune things - even if it was (for sure) a bit of overkill... Especially at this price for 24 ports... As a simple switch for a simple layout, this thing would have a "5," if only they'd printed a few more examples. There's all kinds of ways to do things like this, really, and if one picture is worth and thousand words, how many support calls could be avoided with two, three, or, four more pictures? We didn't bother to call, based on reading the reviews, but our problems really started to be solved when we tossed out their "suggestion," drew our own picture of what we were trying to do, and looked for what was messing up our layout... Oh, and don't forget to reboot (plug/unplug) the switch between trail runs - it's very important to clear the switch's look up table between tries. Good looking, quite, and easy to access box. Maybe too simple to just plug in, but great if you happen to get lucky the first time around.

NETGEAR never has failed me BUY IT FORGET IT
I use mainly Netgear as they always work, and when I upgrade to faster speed I stay with what has always worked. These are plug and play and forget it till you want a faster speed then buy the next model up.I have two of these and they have worked for years JFS524, I would like to upgrade to gigabit, but they work so well.

Simple, compact and affordable
Netgear makes great products, and this is no exception. The best part is this switch has no fan to go bad in it. My last two switches died after the fans wore out, even after being replaced once, which was a pain in the you-know-what. I use all 24 ports with a mix of servers, wifi routers, and a couple older 10mbit printers; everything is happy, and so am I.

These switches have turned out to be junk.
I have purchased several of these for a customer who is upgrading their network. They are full duplex bi-directional, and carry a lifetime warranty.UPDATE: These switches have turned out to be junk. I just installed 2 brand new switches on an RMA (from 2 failed Netgear switches that lasted 3 years) and as of 10/20/2015, less than a month, and both replacement switches have started failing. I can't get data to pass through 9 ports on 1 switch, and 6 ports on the other. My customer is very unhappy, and I am ready to change to another brand of switches. I have also learned that these switches are now manufactured in China instead of the USA. Tech support is in the Philippines, and they charge you to ship every time you have a failure. I have replaced 5 out of 9 switches on RMA in 1.5 years. Switches should last a lot longer than that.

Good switch for the price
Great price if you're looking for an unmanaged switch. Ready to go out off the box.

What I Expected Of Netgear
Ordered this unit to replace an older Netgear switch (at least 10 years old) which had become quite noisy due to the cooling fans having failed.Quick and easy swap, everything worked without any programming or setting changes immediately upon powering up.Price was right also, about $20 to $30 less than everywhere else locally.

Great replacement switch for 100 mbs networks
Netgear JFS524 ProSafe 24-port switch - Works perfect. Plug and play. Small size takes up less room. This one comes with rack mount hardware (that I used to hold the unit off of the shelf for better air circulation). This replaced a Lynksys switch that gave up the ghost after several years of 24/7 use.My only regret was that I didn't go ahead and get a gigabit rated unit (1000 mbs connection capability). My current network work stations are limited to 100 mbs, but it'll be time to upgrade soon and I won't be able to speed up without buying a new switch then.
