Nerf Vendetta melee weapon reviewThe Nerf Vendetta foam melee weapon is back from the dead. I bought 2 pairs of these when I saw them as an Amazon deal. Originally, the Vendetta weapon entered the Nerf scene in 2011 as part of the Nerf N-Strike series. It was not easily found in stores and had previously been discontinued. This made the price and value of it skyrocket. Having owned nearly all of Nerf’s melee weapons, including an old Vendetta set I purchased on eBay after years of searching for one for a reasonable price, I can tell you that this sword is among the most sought after swords in the Nerf Universe. I can also tell you about their durability. The construction and materials are similar to other Nerf swords but the foam takes abuse better and ages more gracefully than Nerf’s other foam weapons for some reason. I have a side-by-side comparison of the new pair next to my old one and you can mainly only see that the old one’s paint came off and parts of the foam is coming apart at the seams. There may be some noticeable bends in the core, but there is not much damage at the tips and the core is not exposed like on my ZombieStrike Vantages and Marauder Longsword for example. Speaking of the Marauder, it too returned to the market on Amazon, and while it has a greater threat range than a disconnected Vendetta, it cannot compete with the 4-foot threat range that a combined Vendetta offers (57 and 1/2 inches). This thing is long, in fact, it is thee longest of Nerf’s foam melee weapons on the market to date. To connect, simply push together and twist until you hear a plastic click. To separate, push both easy-press plastic buttons in the holes on the handle simultaneously and twist apart in reverse order. What could be simpler? The only other difference I found from the original print is in the warning label wording... well, the 3rd word differs anyway... I can no longer make out the rest of the words on my old Vendetta as they seem to have rubbed off. In conclusion, I believe the Vendetta deserves a spot as a legendary foam melee weapon in the Nerf Universe. It is the current record-holder in length, has the best design ingenuity, is among the most durable, and offers a versatility not likely to ever be outdone. My hat is off to the Nerf designer that invented the Vendetta, and I wholeheartedly recommend it. Aside from all of this, just look at it; It just looks awesome.

This was written my my 13-year-old:I got this for my birthday. We also got two Thunder Fury swords for some friends. Here is a comparison:The Vendetta is a more agile design and is more durable. Also the megasword feature is awesome (though not very practical, though each of my friends and I have won at least one fight with it). However, it does not have a cross guard.The Thunder Fury is a more Western, better (in my opinion) design, with cross guard and comfortable hilt, but is not as durable–the foam gets worn much more quickly.Overall, I'd say this is a great toy for 6-60-year old boys, though it can hurt if you get hit really hard (not like the Thunder Fury, though).

Great quality. Look great but a little soft and squishy, for safety. Has chemical smell like a memory foam mattress, but I'm sure they will air out.

I had absolutely no idea how these perform. Now they are my favorite melees to use in a nerf war. I wouldn't recommend for kids under six. (The foam is very hard and hurts a LOT) The dual sword feature that turns into a spear sword hybrid is awesome! Definitely worth only $30.

Ordered 2, Great toy for 6yr old boy. Use like bow-staff or two swords. Pretty durable for playing together, but if he hits hard against cement corner plastic will crack inside. Still works, just not as good. Lots of fun.

Got this for my kid's birthday and he loves it. He likes that it combines into one long piece or he can split it and sword fight with his brother. It has held up better than I expected, but one of the handles did crack on the inside after very rough play.

My daughter loves to play with these with her dad. They have a blast! Good quality, nice and soft, yet sturdy. Good buy
