A vest guy's vest. Must have if you like everything with you and secure.
I'm a admittedly a vest nut, and had to have this when I saw it. I wanted it for an overseas trip. I traveled for 11 days and wore it all day everyday, on 4 flights, car travel, tour bus rides, car rides, and long walks while touring Ireland. I'm In between a large and X/L size and purchased the XL. It worked great over a rain jacket, and black goes with everything! I used the hoodie against the light rain and a few times for the cool winds of Ireland. I had read reviews about a lint problem, but don't have any issues myself. A good utility vest looks a little better with a patina anyway. I prefer wired ear buds over a Bluetooth headset. Wiring the vest was easy and I used the ear buds daily. The buds were always right there by my ears read to go in. No dangling cords hanging up on things. I wired mine to store the tail and plug in the clear phone pocket. My Samsung S8+ with an Otter Box cover is a bit tight in the clear pocket. I needed the phone handy for pictures anyway, so it stayed in an exterior pocket most of the time. The advantage, for travel and touring, of the wired ear buds was I could unplug from my phone and plug into the tour bus jack or audible tour handheld, airplane jack, and my IPAD easily. The ear buds are there all the time.It you load the vest up it can get heavy, as you would expect. But being able to have everything ready to go was very nice. As much stuf as I had in it I expected trouble at the TSA security. I had no trouble at all. I had nothing in my pant pockets. Everything was in the vest. I just put the vest in the bin and it passed right on through. Here is what I had packed in:An IPAD mini, large cell phone, 10K ma battery pack, pen (in left side pen pocket), 1000 lumen tactical flashlight (right side pen pocket which is larger), another 2 AA flashlight in the left side hand warmer pocket, 3 snack bars, water bottle in right front drop in pocket, multiple charger cords, 3 pair of glasses, glasses cleaner packet, mini multi-tool and keys on the key carabiner in the right hand warmer pocket, small hand sanitizer, tictacs, GPS receiver, passport (inside the RFID pocket), travel itinerary and boarding passes in the pocket outside the RFID pocket. It can get a little overwhelming to keep up with where things are but after a 10 day trip it was 2nd nature. This is an awesome product.

Bizarre amount of pockets, with some surprises...
I never thought I'd say this, but this has too many pockets. Zikes! Also, if you don't know this, the side pockets that one puts wallet and keys in by your hands has no internal "top." Its built to be open to snake cables around, which caused a minor freak out when my keys got into the lining. I'd also like it if the two outer breast pockets had a more tailored cell phone holder, since that is where I put my phones.Other than that, its great. I especially like being able to put an iPad in the lower internal pockets. The weight distribution is good. It looks ok. I also use it as a photo vest.

ScotteVEST is the best vest and an investment
Ten years ago I ordered this vest and wore it all the time, summer (vents on the back help keep cool) and winter wore a light coat under the vest. I traveled for a living for five years and this vest was a blessing. It enabled me to go from site to site and carry most everything I needed on the job. I think it may have helped me from checking an extra carry on. Now I am doing photography and it again this vest comes in very, very handy. Finally time to retire it and the new one same quality as the old; ScotteVEST is the best vest and an investment.

Never thought I'd write a negative review about ScottEVest
To preface: I own 5 garments from them and I love them all. That said...The pocket layout on this vest is strange and ineffective.Gone are the large-cell-phone sized outside chest pockets, replaced by HUGE zippered pockets for "rapid access panel", whatever that is. The inside is open from the top of the shoulder to the bottom of the vest. However there are no pockets inside until about the level of my lowest rib. This leaves ZERO storage space at chest level inside that pocket. There is one pocket that will comfortably fit a Galaxy Note 10 in Otterbox Defender and two smaller pockets attached to that pocket. I can comfortably fit my Springfield XDs pistol but both the phone and the gun sit very low; almost belt level. There are velcro straps along the top of that inside pocket for... I have no idea. Whatever you attach to that will flop around with the outside of that inner pocket.Yes, there is the ubiqutious clear panel cell phone holder inside at chest level. However, there is only one now and it is not big enough to comfortably take Galaxy Note 10 in and out and is too small to see and or operate the entire screen. Might work for Apple or smaller android but worthless for me. Due to the plastic, nothing will easily go in and out of there so I'd have to keep infrequently used things in there; folding knife perhaps? The right inside chest pocket is much too small for a the Note 10. Not sure what it would be used for. That said, the inside glasses pocket does comfortably fit the Note 10 and I can put it in and take it out with one hand.Certainly there are plenty of other pockets in which to carry shades or reading glasses.I think that's my only beef and only because I use those chest pockets for cell phones a thousand times a day.Otherwise I love the fabric. The zippers seem solid. Always love the magnetic pocket closures. All other pockets seem usable and nicely sized; not too big, not too small.RFID pocket velcro is WAY too hard to get open. Yes, I understand it is intended to keep valuables safe but a pickpocket would have to have the jaws of life to get in there. It is a bit heavier, thicker and is lined as opposed to other offerings. This would NOT be a warm weather vest unless you love to sweat. With the huge back pocket and hood it seems like it could be a good day hike in the mountains type vest.On that note, the rolled up hood seems to add additional padding around my neck.If I load my other vest down too much the patented weight distribution system throws a lot of weight on my neck and hurts after awhile, so that's a plus.Bottom line: they missed it by THAT much!Put some usable chest pockets inside the zippered outside pockets and it's a keeper.Sadly, I'm on the fence.G'day!

Great product esp for travelers getting through airport security lines
When empty it fits as expected. Once you load it up with stuff, it can be a bit small/tight. Just be aware if you have lots of stuff you'll be putting in it, you may want to buy it one size bigger.Great for travelers when going through airport security lines. Just take off your ScotteVest with all your gear in it, put it on the conveyor belt through the X-ray machine and you're good to go.

Scottevest gilet
Molto soddisfatto.
