A Excellent product and system
As with all our insteon products we are very pleased. System works like a charm and we feel very secure with it. The Extender works fantastic as it increased our range on the unit twice its normal distance. Fantastic security system and they constantly are updating its software to make it even better. For someone who needs a secruity system that is relatively inexpensive I highly recommend this system. Works for us and we have three buildings we are covering. When I called the representative to ask him the extent of the coverage this device had his response was "As long as you are on the same electrical transformer you could go for miles of coverage. Ours is not miles but it is some considerable distance and it works great. Like I say you really can't go wrong. ADT and several others offer a monthly service which we had but there system is not reliable. If you have an incident with them they do not call law enforcement or fire dept. they call the first person on your call list. By the time they do get to the proper people the incident is long over. At least with insteon you are notified as soon as the occurance takes place and you can make the proper call or respond yourself. We live in Ohio and we got notices in Hawaii as soon as they occured. Can't beat that.

Solved my problem
I had a problem with an insteon switch and two remotes that were supposed to turn on and off my under-counter lights. I kept having an issue where one of the remotes would not turn off the lights on one side. Sometimes it would work and sometimes it wouldn't. I even replaced the remote and the problem persisted. I called tech support and they said to install a range booster near the switch. I had my doubts but when it arrived I plugged it in and instantly all the lights worked perfectly. This booster is great.

Four Stars
Works well but poor instructions. To extend the range you need to connect this device to an electrical outlet that is on the same phase as the hub. Many homes have a two phase electric panel. Half the outlets are on one phase and the other half are on the second phase. Trying to find the correct phase takes some time. There is a phase detector built into the unit but the instructions don't mention how to do this. You need to press the button on the device 4 times in a row. There is some further information on the web. Also the hub must be directly connected to an outlet. It cannot be connected to a backup power unit or a power spike protector. Frustrating to get working without instructions. But in the end, when correctly connected it works well.

Outstanding tech support
Although I feel Insteon makes an intuitively easy system to use, on occasion, I do have to call their tech support. Recently I installed a 6 button keypad at my entry door to my condo which is on the 4th floor with a 2-car garage on the ground level. I needed a little help configuring the I/O link device for the garage. I don't care where their support staff are located - they are outstanding (knowledgeable, proficient, professional and patient). In minutes, my set-up was complete. Now, I push the "Garage" button on my 6-button cool-looking keypad as I'm getting on my elevator; my "Garage" button lights-up (indicating the door is opening) and the garage is open as I arrive. Also, if I'm upstairs and see the garage button light on, it means I neglected to close the door, and simply press the button to close it from upstairs (watch light go out). My entire home is an Insteon smart home. It never ceases to amaze me how many solutions they have for so many obscure needs (like mine ;-)

Bridged no signal area
This extender bridges the dead spot for my house. I had an area of the house which was not receiving a signal. Plugged the unit in a spare outlet and now my signal is strong. Recommend for the price to help Insteon signals.

May not work as expected so read carefully
Purpose of this device was not clear. After reading the documentation, it was my understanding that this would help bridge the two side of a breaker panel that most houses have and alleviate the problem of losing powerline signal between the two poles. I have a detached garage which I installed the Insteon garage door opener kits on two doors and was not always able to connect to them. These are powerline only devices. I purchased these to help bridge my breaker panel from the house to the detached garage thinking that two of these devices, one on each side of the panel would allow the signal to extend properly. I quickly learned that that the two devices essentially communicate with each other over RF and not over powerline. This requires that that two devices have to be within RF distance of each other which makes my circumstance challenging. I was able to find two outlets that were close enough to allow two devices to reach each other and so far I am getting the extended range I need.

using with 2475SDB on/off switch on my pool light switch outside and 2245-222 hub.
using with 2475SDB on/off switch on my pool light switch outside and 2245-222 hub. the hub is located with my network devices and it works good. Only problem I found with it is that other cables that didn't come with it may have trouble with the contacts in the back. The cable that came with it however works good. the distance between the 2475SDB is a little too long to work with the hub directly, so I purchased two 2992-222 RF extenders (hub worked with the outside 2475SDB with one extender at the other end of the house; ~75ft inside the house separated the exteneder and hub; ~35ft to switch from extender; will keep the other extender for future add ons). It works great with the extenders and the iPhone app. I am very impressed so far and will likely start experimenting with more switches and cameras to further automate my house if these items hold up over time. will try to provide updates overtime.

Easy Install/Improves Connected Devices
The Insteon Dual Range Extender is very simple to install via the Insteon app. Significantly increases connectivity and reliability of all Insteon devices on the network. A good solution if you have a “dead spot” or the Insteon device is isolated from the majority of the other devices on your network. Improves Insteon products that use model 2450 I/O Linc when they are not located in proximity to other network devices or on a different leg of your wiring.
