Samsung RF28NHEDBSR is AMAZING!
I just purchased this (granted, I did it from Lowes, but the review is important) and I couldn't be happier with it.Also, if you're looking at reviews on Amazon, especially with refrigerators, MODEL NUMBER IS CRITICAL. The manufacturers not only have umpteen models, but some are exclusive to vendors. Don't just read a Samsung, LG or Whirlpool review and think that review is for the exact model you're interested in. Save yourself the hassle and ALWAYS specify the model number in any search, even on Amazon.I've had the unit for about 2 weeks and I'm amazed at how often my family uses the LED display which is massive.I financed it since it's what I would have wanted when we finally get around to remodeling our kitchen and I've realized that no company makes a "suite" where one or more parts are crappy and one or more parts are top notch, so I'm going with a mix and match approach to get what I need, anyway. So several things.1) I did tons of research as befits a former network engineer and I was amazed at how many top end refrigerators had significant issues with the ice maker and or had issues with the compressors. This Samsung model has been fantastic in that regard, cooling quickly upon initial installation and remaining cold. The ice maker makes GREAT ice at a decent rate. If you need tons of ice, I dunno if any new refrigerator is gonna help you because none make tons of ice quickly. That's just what's real. Those models which might...have issues which may be disqualifying to you. They were with me.2) I'd never had multiple drawers on the bottom and the configurable drawer (configurable using the LED which can be easy to miss in the novel sized documentation) is wonderful. We use it as the lunchmeat drawer and it really reduces the times the doors are opened.3) The water filter is top notch and my family actually started drinking the water due to it's much improved taste.4) The LED does turn off and the brightness can be adjusted. It does not just blast the room with light 24/7. That was a concern for us.5) The water fills really quickly which is great for me as I use a 30 oz YETI tumbler for my drinks and my old fridge took forever to fill it up. However, the light in the dispenser well is super weak and doesn't really do anything at all.6) The shelves on the doors are a little narrow so while they fit the standard milk container, in order not to bend it, you need to raise the other shelves which limits what can be stored on the door. If you use the collapsing shelf, you have tall things in front of shorter things and end up playing Refrigerator Tetris. We're new to the fridge, so some of that is on us to better figure out how to configure what we have and to best maximize the space. If you come from a single door or a 2 door french door model, this configuration takes a little getting used to.7) The LED is Android based, and has Pandora preinstalled which was nice. I just logged in and streamed Pandora while I did the dishes which meant I didn't need to leave my phone out where it could get wet. Not the greatest speakers, but surprisingly nice. If I was going to make my all day spaghetti sauce again or do Thanksgiving, I'll probably break down and get a Bluetooth speaker and pair it with the fridge. I was able to pair my iPhone XS Max to the fridge and stream Pandora with it as well. If you don't want to try to install apps on the fridge, that's a great way to listen to audio books, Spotify or even YouTube. And yes, you can play YouTube in the provided browser.8) The refrigerator is relatively quiet with the odd knock which is normal. It is not loud, no whine (it's more of a low hum).9) My family has been very mindful when closing the doors, but if someone carelessly just slams the door, it can pop the other ajar slightly. We haven't tested if the fridge will sound the alarm in this case, but my kids are all adults now, so it's not an issue for them to pay attention to such things.10) The interior lights are bright LEDs and unless the fridge is packed, there's plenty of light. Conclusion: The unit looks the part, it functions the part and we couldn't be happier with it. I used to think an LED on a fridge was the height of silliness, but the utility is hard to argue with. It's not frivolous at all.I also bought the Ring video doorbell and that will allow me to see who's at the front door on the fridge which is nice when I'm waiting on a package (none of the Fedex, UPS or USPS delivery guys knock let alone wait for signatures) or if I'm cooking.EDIT 4/27/20: After a year of use in a busy household that now numbers 7, I can’t be more impressed. It still looks like new, is far easier to clean the inside than our old fridge and it’s definitely the highlight of our kitchen and the way it’s holding up, we should have this appliance for many, many years.
