No, we do not recommend it be used in that manner as it is plastic and cannot withstand cooking heat.

Will this fit the billy pot 2.5L?

No, it sits down in the bottom of the 2.5L billy and will fit the 27 fry pan and bowls for straining liquids. I use it in a pinch for the billy by holding it on the edge near the spout when straining any liquids out of the billy.

For those reporting a poor fit, did anyone try another disc? I got a 27-0UL/HA set and multi-disc. The disc doesn't fit the upper windshield.

The disc isn't for the windshield, it's for the pots.

Does the multi disc nest inside the 27-3 ul?

Yes it fits quite nicely in my 27-8 with the kettle. In fact it adds a bit of snugness to dampen rattling.
