A rugged, slim, compact unit. Sound is excellent, mike picks up a whisper. I have played with this for a while and find it to be an amazing piece of equipment, high quality, for a price that is really affordable. For the money, this is the best buy I could find. Highly recommended. One thing for those men or women with big hands, this is a tight unit and slim to hold onto while manipulating the buttons. But with practice I've done well with it. And after all, it is what we want, right? A unit that we can carry into meetings or interviews. It fits well in my pocket or briefcase. I'm impressed.

I docked it one star because the manual that came with it, while comprehensive, didn't answer all my questions.EVISTR Customer service was excellent and they filled that gap for me in emails. The recorder is working well, and recordings are pretty clear, even in a noisy car which is where I use it most. In a quiet room the recordings are good.Also, the manual is not available in a searchable PDF download that I could zoom. The print is so tiny it is hard for me to read without a magnifying glass. I will try OCR scanning it to a PDF and see what I can come up with.A good purchase for the price if it lasts.

It’s hyped up to be more than it actually is. The playback sound sucks and volume is low. It’s supposed to be voice activated, I don’t think mine works because it continually records. It’s shiny, pretty and tiny! I guess you get what you pay for. I probably would not recommend this, there may be better ones for a little more money.

It’s very practical and easy to use! It’s also small and lightweight! The sound is perfect and it’s not necessary to be a genius to transfer your recorders for your computer!

Overall pretty good product only thing I didn’t like is if you cut the machine off before you hit stop when you’re using it to start when it here’s something the recordings it will not save the voice recording correctly.

Update: Its recordings are not choppy and barely intelligible (kind of like my reviews ;-) ).I do NOT recommend this. Save you money and buy a better one.Original review: It does record sound and has a fairly sensitive microphone.Sadly, it takes a long time to startup,it is hard to verify that it has started recording,it took me years after using to to discover it has some flashing red lights indicating recording.Very slow data transfer.I don't recommend it.

The derived records clearly, is easy to use and small enough to carry in your pocket. The EVISTR 8GB Digital Voice Recorder Voice Activated Recorder with Playback is reasonably priced.

PROs include nice metal casing and easy design, Mac-compatible, speaker in the front, and a flashing red light when recording, which leads me to the -CONS including a tiny screen which is almost useless and necessitates the use of the flashing red light for visibility, and unfortunately my playback recordings skipped at random intervals. For this reason alone I returned this recorder in favor of another brand.
