Great specs for the price
I hesitate to review computers because people have different expectations from the same device. This is labeled a gaming pc but I didn't aim to have exactly that. I hardly play games, at least nothing too taxing. That being said, the specs seem to indicate that it'd be good for gaming: lots of RAM, a video card capable of virtual reality, and a 256GB SSD main drive. But the reason *I* got those things was mostly to future-proof my purchase. The last lap top I had ran Windows XP (!) so as you can see, I look to get the most milage possible out of each one. Now, I do use the computer for image editing (and likely soon for video editing), and it can handle these things with ease. And of my small list of games I've played on it, one is at least someonewhat taxing (Obduction, which you can find on Steam), and it works just fine. But that's about as far as I can go with vouching for its gaming prowess. It's a tad heavy but not as heavy as my prior lap top. Put it in a napsack designed for lap tops and I have no problem lugging it on my daily train commute to work. The battery seems to last a long time. I can take it to work, runa few spreadsheets there, and play a not-quite-max-resource-draining football game on the way home, and still have nearly 50% battery life left.So it suits my purpose. And for the price, it feels like quite the bargain. Your milage may vary.

Great laptop, runs hot!
I bought this laptop specifically for gaming, War Thunder in particular. With the graphic card fans on as well as the laptop tray fans, it feels hot. Performance is great, just the temperature of the body near the screen raises my concern. Doesn’t give me confidence that I’ll be playing for very long, but I’m hoping.

Great laptop
I only received this one day ago. I'll provide a detailed review later - probably. First impressions - this is a great laptop for gaming which is why i bought it for. Things to note:1. Its heavy2. It is thick compared to normal laptops3. It is fast4. Nice materials5. It has more than enough ports including thunderbolt - another reason I got it.6. The screen is fine - maybe a bit dull but not too much7. Its easy to upgrade8. It looks good and its understated as a gaming laptopOne important thing to note this is not a take to class, light web browsing, coffee shop laptop. This is for the casual gamer who wants a decent rig.

An absolute bang for the buck
A GTX 1060 max-q and a core i5-8300H for this price is a steal! The performance on the G5 is quite decent for all games I play, but for some more demanding game like the Witcher you have to turn down the graphics settings a bit to keep on a stable 60FPSThe cooling is superb and I never faced thermal throttling and the fans noise is somewhat quite but if you pair that with a noise canceling headset then you won't notice the noise even when fans are on max loadThe only con is could find with this laptop is the screen where the color accuracy is not decent and max brightness is still not very high, however, the viewing angles are quite sharp.4/5 stars is definitely deserved for this beast.

Not an incredible display, but a decent performer.
This is a good compromise between performance and visual attractiveness. The screen isn't HD quality, but the graphics card is a cut above the usual at this price level. It came with adequate RAM, but its performance is not awesome, it must have a poky HD, even if it is a hybrid SSD/HD combo. Overall though, a good buy for your college student wanting an all-around machine. I didn't find anything better for the money.

Had to send back to Dell within the first 3 days of recieving computer
I was not aware that updates needed to be done on the system from square one. Plus, it takes some figuring out that Windows 10 is installed but it requires some tinkering to get that remedied. Also I purchased this model for various reasons (none were for gaming) but I did like that fact that it had an SD card slot on the model. However, no matter how many times I tried to pull up the cards, the system would go hay wire and go into stuck mode. Now it has to be sent back and will take a few weeks for it to be returned. So far Dell is living up to it's less than ecstatic reputation. Supposedly it does a great job for post processing photos....I will find out...one day.

Disappointment
Runs awful unless you're plugged in charging at all times.Audio jack sends out random static frequencies to headphones.

Value for your money
I don’t think you’re gonna get a laptop with these specs for such a reasonable price at this time. I haven’t used it for gaming just yet but it definitely fulfill my programming needs. Not sure why the screen brightness was raised as an issue in previous reviews but to each their own. Excellent buy.
