Great little kayak for the lake
This thing is great. I'm 5'10" and 170 lbs. and I'm about as big as you want on this thing. Any bigger though and moving it from truck to the lake would be too much of a chore. This is light enough that my 9 yr. old son can help me pack our gear on it and carry it down to the water without issue. It is great for leisure days out on the lake with a fishing pole watching the kids play, etc. Feels stable and easy to maneuver. The little kayaks for the kids fit right on top in the grooves which was an added bonus for storage and transporting.

Handles fell off first time
I did not buy this kayak on Amazon but it is the exact same model. The first time I used the kayak, the rear handle fell off. I thought it just needed to be screwed back in (plastic on plastic). The second time we used it, the handle fell off again. I screwed it in again, seems tight enough but it seemed tight enough the first time too.... hopefully it won't fall out again. This is a poorly designed way to get a handle on a kayak. We have another lifetime kayak and the handle self loops onto a fixed plastic loop on the kayak, much better design. The paddle that came with this kayak is very short and did not have drip shields. The seat back is hard as a rock. Had to purchase an extra back cushion. The foot rests are fixed and if you are in between lengths, you are out of luck. Fortunately the back cushion I purchased propelled me forward just enough so I can reach the foot rests properly. You will definitely get what you pay for. I have contacted Lifetime who were great when working with us on the other Lifetime Kayak when it was delivered (third party seller) without a seat clip. They sent us another model that is barely over the weight capacity of the user - and it was sent missing parts. Most of our spring was spent waiting for shipment and missing parts to arrive. Disappointed in this purchase but we are keeping them as we are retired and won't be doing any heavy duty kayaking. Still would have been nice to be able to carry my kayak without the handle popping out and 40 lbs crashing at my feet.

Great lake water floater
Good for lake bird watching. Paddles never arrived. Boo on that. Neither did the photo shown back support. Still happy with it and no complaint because its a great price delivered and i would have replaced the oars anyway.I bought this because of youtube videos showing how a milk crate fits great lashed down on the back shelf. Good to securing sun umbrella, poles, and a lunch box. And how stealthy quiet you can be near water fowl.I have enjoyed very expensive kayaks, like my klepper aurius ii. But sometimes i just want to sit on the water, pad about, and not engage it in a tug of war.Fits in my minivan. No lifting on to top. Slides in with only passenger back seats down. Huge win! It's a nice sturdy stubby kayak. Perfect!

Awesome for beginners
I took my kayak out on a river by myself for the first time which might actually be really stupid except this thing was so easy. I felt in control the whole time and it was easy to get launched by myself. In places the river had quicker currents and I didn't at all feel like I was ever going to tip. I would advise getting plugs though if you want to be less wet.

Great little yak for the solo paddler
This kayak IS ideal for a solo paddler, lighter and stabler than any other adult kayak on the market. It's also a bargain.Since I couldn't lift another kayak, and therefore otherwise couldn't go kayaking on my own, I give this yak 5 stars. It fits into a Honda CR-V with the front and rear passenger seats down. Just try that with a fancier 12' kayak. The stern handle popped out. I shoved a rubberized S-hook into the hole--one of the S-hooks with a webbed loop handle as you find in ratchet sets at the hardware store. Easy.Don't cut the zip tie that attaches your new paddles to the middle of the boat when it arrives. You can use that center zip tie loop to attach another handle-loop S-hook or duck tape a foam handle to it. That way, you can easily lift the craft from center and rear. The kayak comes with a hard plastic snap-in seat back. It's fine. You've got plenty of padding from your life vest--which you should be wearing. For a more comfortable seat bottom, I did not spend for a new padded kayak seat. I bought a small $6 foam stadium seat cushion: perfect and waterproof. (It also covers the seat scupper holes and keeps me lowers dry.)I was the envy at my local lake when folks saw me launching the Daylite 80 on my own. Not everyone gets to enjoy a sunny New England day on the lake: I think I sold a couple more Daylites to folks who asked what model and where to buy a smart little boat like mine.

Best kayak ever! Not the best seller!
This is 2 weeks late and I can't get a response from the seller. The tracking number is bogus as well. This seller is not good but the kayak is. I have had this exact kayak before. Not kidding people. I had 3 of these sweet little yaks that got stolen! I have had to make do with various other types sizes etc in my quest to replace what was stolen and NOTHING compares to this 8 ft Daylight by Lifetime. This size fits inside my camper shell with the door shut perfectly. They track well and handle better in choppy water especially, than the other 8.5 models that I have tried. I just ordered this because I want to get back to exactly what I had. PEOPLE WHO STEAL KAYAKS ARE EVIL!

Made for smaller people
I wanted to write a review to clear up some confusion on this kayak. I think the problem might be people thinking the kayak can carry anywhere NEAR 250lbs. My husband and I took it out and I had a ball. I'm 5'4" and 114lbs. He is 6'3" and 220. It was awful for him. He struggled with every stroke and water was filling the scupper holes. So I would say this is a small person's kayak. Nothing over 170lbs and you should be fine. It tracked well and was responsive to me. Better than the rental I got from Lake Powell to give you an idea.
