I have the whole Monterey Bay collection, and I use them in my science class for teaching about marine animals and their adaptations. These replicas are great! They also make fun toys for kids, but I don't recommend them for young ones (under age 8 or so). These toys are made out of hard plastic. Their fins are pointy. As a result, you will find that kids see them as suitable substitutes for swords and use them in an all-out sibling duel. ;) That leaves the toys looking pretty beat up, and, in my experience, brings on Mom's reproach. You should only buy these for your kids if they are old enough and gentle enough to appreciate them.

Good rendition of a humpback whale. The model is a shiny midnight-blue color with white (ventral) underside. Anatomically correct with dorsal fin. Measures approximately 13.5 inches (rostrum to fluke) by 8 inches (at the pectoral fins). Includes painted barnacles (teal circles with outer orange circumference) on ventral side and raised midnight-blue color barnacles on rostrum.Also indented ventral grooves. It is made of hard plastic in a static position/pose with a slight curvature between the dorsal fin and fluke. The pectoral fins are oriented slightly downward which leaves the whale propped up as it is rested on a table.

I buy these toy replicas for myself for educational purposes. They are cheaper than figurines and are just as good. This humpback whale, I say model, is fantastic! Better than I expected and better than the picture! It is very big, about 15 inches long and like the other reviewer mentioned, it is very heavy. Anatomy, color and details are perfect...couldn't get any closer to justice of a real humpback whale. Love the detailing that you don't see as much in the picture. Highly recommended.

Was able to get this at $36, got lucky with the price since it usually only goes for $50. My son has wanted one of these for the longest time and he loves it.

It seems to meet all my expectations. Pricy but appears to be right for my autistic 13 year old grandson who has fallen in love with whales.

I work as a naturalist for a whale watching company. Great accurate visual to hold up while discussing the whale's anatomy and behavior.

Wonderful item!! It's so well detailed, very nicely made, and it looks so elegant and realistic. It sits up on its fins, just like in the picture, and all of the features on the whale look really nice. I love it!!

An excellent humpback whale model. It is a good representation, with distinct features, and a very good size for small children to handle. Service was very good and extremely prompt.
