The Best Beginner Drum Book Spiral-bound – January 1, 2018

I spent the better part of 2 hours going through every single thing in this book.As a drum instructor, finding the right book for your students can be difficult. You want to make sure that all the material makes sense to them when they are away from the lesson area.This book is perfect for the absolutely beginner to the lower intermediate drummer. There is a great deal of information that everyone can take away from it. I wanted to objectively give my opinion and to make certain that this would be something I would use with my own students. I ordered 2 copies and will be giving them to 2 of my personal students and will be ordering more soon.The highlights of this book are the various techniques covered from dynamics, to grips, to hi hat motions, and the multitude of examples for the rudiments, note values, and styles. The inclusion of playalong via the website provided in the book in extremely important because to be a drummer, we don't just practice patterns and notes. To be proficient and to put into practice what we learn and strive for is to play music, and using the playalongs to practice with is essential for any drummer.

I wish I had purchased this book before I purchased my other three. The Best Beginner Drum Book is very easy to understand and has plenty of pictures to describe each lesson is simple English. The notes and the content are written in large enough letters and symbols anyone can read it easily. This book is for the beginner and the experienced drummer. If you could have only one book in your library for drumming, this would be the one to have. I wasn't sure if the book would cover the material as well as a 1-1 instructor but it does so very well. I am very pleased. In addition you can't beat the price. The format of the lessons and the pages are of very high quality. I hope Drumeo will have a follow-up book. I would preorder it right now. Being a total beginner and having no idea where to start, this books gives you a very detailed introduction on how to get started with drums. From basic set up, how to grip the sticks (didn't know there was more than one way to hold a drum stick), to basic beats to get your limbs used to move and do whatever you need them to. Unbeknown to myself, I also learned without realizing at the beginning that I was learning to read music for drums, as that is the way the books conveys exercises and content. Once I realized this simple fact, I realized I know had a path to follow with instructions on how to practice and what concepts to learn. Recommended to anyone interested in learning how to play this awesome instrument!

Great book for someone like me who is beginning to learn the drums. I like the layout of the book and the examples for learning drum notation. Everything is explained in an easy-to-understand language that is not overly complicated. This book really gets me excited about learning about the drums and music as a whole through drumming!!My one downside to this is that I did order the book and it came with two free Musora 30-day access passes and they both had an expiration date of December 31,2023, I ordered this book on January 15th, 2024. Not a big deal but since it was included with the book, I feel like I have to rate it as part of the product. 4.75 out of 5 stars.

Teaches you the basics of drumming very easy to follow and understand

Got this book and started going threw it day by day. It is a great book for the beginner. It has exercises all threw the book and goes over basic notations in drum sheet music. It also includes a one month free subscription to Drumeo online. I have learned a great deal in a short time.

What a great book this is...! The amount of information in this book is very valuable and very well written by very knowledgeable drummers...! It seems like a lot of years of experience and a lot of hard work bundled into this book, also great packaging and presentation...! I'm not a beginner but I was curious when I saw this book, so I bought it and I was not disappointed...! If you love playing drums, you will love this book...! There is a lot more information in the book then being a beginner drummer in my opinion...! Great book to have at your finger tips...! Wish they had a book like this when I started playing...! Excellent job Jared Falk and Brandon Toews...! This book is a Home Run...!!!

I have mixed feelings about this book. I wanted to love it as the Drumeo web site is awesome and the book itself is pleasant reading done in an enjoyable style, but at the end of the 210 pages I felt there should have been more in the way of lessons. At the end of most sections they do reference you to the Drumeo site, which as I said before is a great site for learning, but if you compare this book to some of the other "beginner" books out there, many with accompanying CD's, it just falls short instruction wiseDid I enjoy reading it? Yes. Would I buy it again....mmm maybe. Would I recommend it as a learning tool for drum instruction over other beginner books out there? No, unfortunately not, but I would highly recommend their website for free drum instruction, and paid in depth instruction.
