My husband can use only one hand. Does this wine opener work with one hand?

I can only use one hand also. If you have a garbage disposal, a wine bottle fits right in that hole and is cushioned by the rubber collar. You can then use this corkscrew

Should the unit be kept in constant charge mode while not being used

I had one years ago & since I had an outlet in my pantry (odd, right?) I kept it plugged in all the time. Used it often & it lasted about 6 years? So easy & never had a problem. That's why I am getting another today.

How do you get a part of the cork out once stuck up inside?

Mine BROKE when I removed a cork. I could see the cork screw was on the side of the stuck cork. Thinking the screw never got into the cork, I pulled the cork out with needle nose pliers. Did not use the button. Did not have to use a lot of force. The metal cork screw is attached to a plastic base. The plastic base broke and out came the plastic base, the cork screw and the cork. The screw went into the cork one turn but came out the side of the cork pressing the cork to the inner wall and the screw to the opposite side of the inner wall.

Can this deal with rubber corks?

I had no problem with rubber corks. Worked the same way both removing from the bottle and removing the rubber cork from the device.
