Schumacher SE-1072 5/10 Amp Multi-Battery Charger

We use this item in our R & D lab to keep multiple batteries topped up for use on our Marine Control test bench. We have had one of these for more than a year, and when my secondary charger from another brand, failed - we bought another of these to replace it. Well protected circuitry and very flexible in how it can be connected to multiple units.Update - August 2012Both units have now died - they are not up to any sort of frequent / continuous use - OK for intermittent use only

When I first used this charger it worked well , but the AC noise was deafening . Rather than go through the hassle of returning it I spent a couple of hours replacing the loose transformer to base rivets with machine screws , and made an aluminum clamp to tighten the laminations . It is quiet now and I have used it extensively since to charge the 72v battery pack in my plug-in electric Nissan Micra .I would certainly buy another .WP

When the charger arrived it only charged at the 10 amp level...I discovered a wire disconnected on the toggle switch that changes the amps from 5 to 10 amps...plugged it in....works perfectly....if I didn't already know a few things about chargers...I would have had to send it back and would have been disappointed...

It does what it says but the instructions where confusing or not at all. I bought this to charge my batteries at my cabin and my 5000 watt generator could not handle it.

Very tough charger! It has resisted not only use but abuse as well. The only strange thing is it did not work at the begining, since I am outside America I had to check the problem by myself. I realize there was just a little wire out of its place. No big deal at all. Recomend it 100‰ would buy again this charger if I need such

The internal battery charger on my Gem car LSV failed. A new replacement was $630.00 or a rebuilt unit was $428.00 I bought this charger, for the 72 volt output availability, for $168.00 including overnight shipping. I made a simple wiring adjustment on the Gem and the charger performed perfectly. In fact it did the charge in half the time it took the old internal charger. Bravo.

WOULDN'T WORK! Amazon issued a pickup for it and is sending a replacement. After going back and reading other reviews. I see this is a common problem.Guess i should have read the reviews first. Schumacher is usually a good name brand charger. But not this one. Hopefully the replacement will be better.

Nice heavy duty product. But, don't let it go past the 24 charging period or you will ruin it. I went through a few before I figured it out. Most everthing Schumacher makes is above average in construction. I also have one of their smaller auto charges and really like it.
