Hacking School Libraries: 10 Ways to Incorporate Library Media Centers into Your Learning Community (Hack Learning Series)
@**)
A must read for novice and veteran teacher librarians alike!
This book is such a gold mine of practical tips, tricks, and strategies for every teacher librarian in the field. It would be a great addition to any pre-service librarian's reading list, as well as those of us who have been in the field for a long time! The ten chapters (and hacks) can be read from start to finish, or you can skip around to find the info most relevant to your current interest. The only critical feedback I have is that I wished it included a reference and works cited list! This is my critique for all the books in the Hack Learning series! What can I say--I love a good list of resources!

In a library? Buy this book now!
Extremely well written, great read. Has ideas you can implement immediately and great tips on a number of various aspects, including how to overcome pushback. As a first year school librarian, I found it extremely helpful and have looked back in it often.

We must HACK our libraries to reach our customers!
So excited to have this book. Especially love the "What you can do tomorrow" section. Gives all new librarians a starting place and a compass to what is important to get students and staff into the library. Along with all the books I am reading for my MLS degree this book also gives common sense advice and techniques that update the space in a library. I am lucky that the librarian before me had this vision- maybe she read this book- and I can just continue to follow in her footsteps to "Hack the School Library!"

Great ideas
This would be a great tool for new library media specialists, and it could also be energizing and inspiring to those of us with lots of years under our belt. I highly recommend the accompanying Facebook group, too.

Filled with ideas
I'm a prospective library media specialist and this book gave me so many great ideas that I can use when I hopefully begin working in the field someday. I really liked how the chapters are laid out and common concerns and staff pushback are addressed with realistic ways to overcome challenges in the library. A must-read for any new (and probably even seasoned) school librarian.

A true Handbook for any LMS
Stony Evans is a well-respected LMS in Arkansas and beyond because of his practices in curriculum connections by so many different means. He gets to showcase his teaching strategies and collaborations to a nation-wide audience in this book. Great sections for each ‘hack’ with examples, true stories and how to start the hacks tomorrow. A must read for any new LMS. I would call it a Handbook for beginners or those stepping out if the box!

Perfect resource for school media specialists!
What I love about this book is that it breaks everything down into manageable sections. In those sections you are given suggestions for what you can do TODAY! Such an important resource especially as media specialists are always struggling to stay relevant. This book really helps!

A great first step for library transformation.
Using the same successful format as the other books in the “hacking” series, Kristina Hotlzweiss and Stony Evans provide 10 great strategies to update your school library. Along with strategies there are also stories of library transformation and photographs of creative ideas. This is a great first step for any librarian looking to move his or her library into the 21st century.
