Great value and compact projector
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. This is a very compact projector but is easily as capable as my bigger one that this is replacing. The image resolution, at 1280 x 720 makes images look great. Whilst not full HD it does at least fit into the HD bracket. Likewise, the 3000 lumen brightness makes dim room viewing very rewarding but it's not much good in daylight. None of the projectors in this sort of price range do, and I've seen a few.The sound is very adequate and certainly has lots of volume. The quality of the sound is average and is a little plasticky, lacking in bass. For 90% of the time I use headphones for late night movies but occasionally use a bluetooth speaker that I have and just plug in an audio cable for this. I'm considering getting a cinema system to further improve on this. The fan is not the loudest I've heard but you will notice it in the quieter moments. It's about on par with others in this (and more expensive) price range. My previous projector had additional USB and HDMI ports so this is a bit of a step down, though I normally play movies off of a 1TB hard drive and I use a 3 to 1 HDMI adapter so this is a non issue. The projector does not display subtitles so if I have movies that need this I just play them from my laptop and connect via HDMI.I mostly play movies from HDD and so far only found a couple of files that it didn't want to play properly... again I just played these from my laptop.I also use the projector for my Amazon Fire tv stick and a miracast type device from my phone and it handles all of these without problem. The unit has a built in SD card slot, headphone socket (3.5mm jack), AV socket (3.5mm jack), VGA socket, USB socket and HDMI socket. There is a tilt adjuster on the bottom and the socket that this is fitted into becomes a tripod mount should you wish to fit it to the ceiling or even just onto a standard tripod (to make height adjustment easier). There is a manual keystone adjuster wheel but I was very impressed to see a keystone adjuster built into the menu accessible from the remote control. With regards to the remote, I first thought that because it was so simple it would be very restrictive but having used it I now much prefer it to the more comprehensive remote of my previous one. This is because it is so easy to use in a darkened room when you are watching movies etc. Previously if I wanted to pause, or fast forward/rewind etc I had to hunt down the buttons on the remote, and they where tiny and invariably I'd have to turn my phone torch on to find them. The Abox remote functions are mainly onscreen (though some are merely shortcuts, such as volume etc) and because the buttons are big and bold and there are only a few to memorise it is very easy to use without having to resort to a torch. Big thumbs up there. This is a much smaller projector than my previous so it fits on my shelf better. As or more importantly, all of the cable inputs are on the sides of the unit and this means that the back of the unit fits snugly against the wall and maximises the space between it and the screen. Partly due to this, the screen size is very generous. At 2.5mtrs distance from the screen I get an image diagonal of 2.1mtrs and I'm really enjoying the bigger picture. There is no way to for me to measure the contrast but the image looks clear and well contrasted and the colours are vivid and the image in whole looks great for this price range of projector. The projector does take a few seconds to start booting up and the first few times it caught me out as I thought I'd pressed the wrong button but you soon get used to it.A very good budget projector.

Just OK
I recently bought this for my daughter's birthday to go in her bedroom.Picture quality is reasonable, but unfortunately the fan is VERY noisy (constantly like a laptop at first boot up) and also there appears to be no zoom (just focus and keystone) so the image size will depend solely on where you place the projector. Not terrible by any means but you can do better...Other reviews are along the lines of "what do you expect for so little money" but I have some perspective here having spend exactly the same (£99) this summer on a used Epson EH-TW420 3LCD from eBay to show movies in the garden. Although it is a few years old, and also only 720p resolution it is way way better than this ABOX - much better picture, much brighter, manual zoom and FAR quieter. Still thousands of hours left on the lamp as it is an LCD.eBay is full of used projectors so I would suggest doing a bit of research and picking one up from there - you can get so much more for your money.

At this price? Fair enough.
I wasn't expecting much with a low value projector, specially since most branded projects cost upwards of 800. But I was impressed that this projector does punch a level above it's price tag. It's small size, great sounding speaker and decent enough quality do have some value to it. For the price, I really can't complain and if you are on a budget for a projector, you really shouldn't miss this one out. The only downside to this projector is maybe the pixelated edges sometimes and the hard it is to read small text. But if you are planning, like me, to play retro games and watch some TV/movies, you're in for a treat. I'd recommend this projector for people that:A) Want a decently priced projector that is actually suprisingly good.B) People who watch a lot of vídeo related stuff. It comes bundled with a remote, a manual, a hdmi cable and such. It is pretty amazing for what it does.

ABOX A2 Home Theater Projector
I've been using an old Optoma EP719 projector which cost me £38 and was a bargain. Now I've tried the Abox A2 and the difference is like night and day. Although the Optoma is only 1024x768 the diffrence in sharpness and contrast is amazing. The Optoma is a semi-professional data projector and the Abox is really a toy. If you want a cheap projector for the kids, its fine. But if you want a solid semi-pro projector with excellent picture, look for a second-hand model on Ebay.Update: I've decided I was unfair to Abox as I compared a £99 unit to a model originaly costing over £700.The Abox is a very comprehensive unit with every input you coud imagine. It projects an enormous picture for a very short 'throw' which is quite sharp for its size and resolution. I tried it during the day and it gave a fairly bright picture which would've been more than adequate in a darkened room. The lens, although large, lets the Abox down slightly but still produces a fairly sharp picture across what is a very large image. If you've never owned a projector, this is certainly a cheap but effective way to 'dip a toe in the water'. Comparing it to a unit costing 7 times as much is very unfair and I apogise.Do I recommend the Abox A2? Yes if your expectations are'nt too high. Its resolution of 720p makes a big difference and the LED lamp means you're unlikely to ever need a new bulb. It runs quietly so, happy film night!
