Where is this particular steiff terry the teddy bear made?

The only information I could find about where Steiff plush products (including their iconic teddy bears), are made, was provided on the official Wikipedia website. It simply stated that the company is "German based". I infer from this, that their manufacturing is also based there. Steiff are famously and incredibly invested in, and protective of, a very high standard of both the materials and the manufacturing procedures they use to produce their products. They are far stricter than any legal standards required anywhere else in the world. This also accounts for the "longevity" of their products, assuming reasonable care, of course. I think it makes perfect sense that, considering Steiff's well earned reputation for quality, they would want to keep control of the making of their products, "close to home". I suggest that in order to test this supposition of mine, either in the store before purchase, or at home afterwards, that you ask your "Teddy" or other stuffed member of Steiff animal kingdom, exactly where they were born. If you get a response in German, you'll have definitive proof that I'm correct in thinking their country of origin is Germany. If however, you get a response in say Cantonese, then all bets are off. Has anyone washed their Steiff bear yet? It’s our daughter’s favorite and I am scared!

Yes we have. As soon we we got it baby spit up on poor ol teddy. And I could not for the life of me find any answers online about washing Steiff Bears. You think the company would have an official care guide online. I just put teddy in washing machine (warm or cold water I don’t think it matters) in one of those mesh bags. I used the baby’s laundry detergent. And then briefly threw in the dryer and then set outside in the sun to finish drying. I probably wouldn’t do it to one of the antique bears but this new bear did ok.

Does this bear have jointed arms and legs?

This Bear does not have jointed arms and legs. Is very soft and cuddly.

Does every Stief bear come in striped box?

No, it comes in a plastic bag inside a regular brown amazon box. I have 2 from amazon that came like that. I have a bunny from a retail store that also came without a box, so I don’t think it’s standard.

Lovely teddy

Lovely little Teddy. Very small but perfect for a newborn. Doesnt come in any fancy packaging. Its very soft with bean bags to support it sitting. Not so sure how long it will last but great for now and I'm happy with the little fella.

Get A Steiff - They're Good for Life!

This little Steiff Teddy Bear was exactly what I was looking for, and came as advertised. I bought him for a friend who is in the hospital, and he was a big hit. He was soft and cuddly and didn't take up much room in a confined space. He was one of the smallest "Teddys" I'd ever seen, so I named him "Bearly There". I got 1 1/2 day delivery too. This product and seller are excellent. If you purchase from them, I'm sure you'll gladly "BEAR" witness to their good service too.
