Well built,sturdy,locks in place with a twist. Each daughter uses one at opposite ends of our 26 foot boat while docking. The poles make docking much easier,less stressful and safer, especially when its windy. Never leave for the lake without these poles. We also have already retrieved 2 hats that have blown off our heads when someone pops their head up over the windshield while at speed. Rarely do I buy a product that I am 100 percent satisfied with, but this in one those products. Avoid the cheap garbage out there. The second you get your hands on it, you will feel the quality. Do your homework and read all of the reviews. You should arrive at the same conclusion I did. Buy and you will never stop using it. Shipping and packaging were both acceptable and no problems were incurred.

OMG...I am so happy I purchased this telescopic hook as opposed the the many others I researched. My husband and I are new to boating and this thing has saved our boat (and others) quite a few times. The extra length that this item provides has been the difference between docking our boat and tearing up the marina's dock (lol). Seriously, we were so nervous about docking in the marina slips that we would use the pole to paddle our way into the slip once we got close enough.The pole is pretty sturdy but could use a tad bit more strength for new boaters like us as it has mildly bowed a couple of times when it got stuck on the slip while we were trying to dock in heavy wind. It bounced right back both times, but did seem like it was going to break those times.Tidbit...make sure the pole adjustment areas are locked/twisted all the way into position prior to using it. If these areas are not locked into place, the pole will retract. You do not want this to happen when your boat is heading towards another boat or dock about to collide.The hook seems sturdy enough and in addition to the long length, it makes grabbing dock cleats very easy. We are also able to retrieve items like clothing that may fall overboard. I have a 21 ft boat and the pole fits just fine under my seats when collapsed.We also tested out the floating function (of course with a rope tied to it just in case) and it floated just as advertised in the listing.We are very happy with the price we paid and with this item. I would certainly purchase another one and would also recommend it for use with swimming pools!!!

Very nice tool. We use it to fish dog water toys outta the lake and it works really well. Lite in the hand and it floats? Great product for the price.

This is solid and length is adjustable and locks in with no slipping 100%. I am in charge of hooking our buoy in very choppy water at times and this is reliable.

First time I used it, it broke on me.Pole is cheap, and not made well.Also, it did not float well. Maybe because it was broken, not sure. Didn't have a chance to test it buoyancy because it literally broke in half the first time second I used it.Very disappointed.

Used this telescopic hook for a different reason. We put a hand rake on the end of it (taped it on) and we now use this to get the Spanish Moss out of our trees ! It extends up and with this little hand rake we can get pretty much most of the moss out of the trees. This is so lightweight and extends out and easy to use. Our lawn guys made something out of pvc pipe to do this and it bent and swayed as they put it in the air to get the moss. This does not do that and is even more lightweight than the pvc pipe they used. So now they are getting this to do the same set up as me.Guessing it would be great for out on the boat too.

As a new boater, this worked great for me while leaving or returning to our slip for the 1st couple of uses, however than the telescopic part of the pole stopped functioning while returning back into my slip (lesson learned, don't rely on gadgets to help slip, use people n their physcal strength). Pole will not stay compressed, it keeps opening up to full length. Will purchase another one down the road to try again to use for grabbing lines & trash in the water.

Works as advertised. Has a long reach and is light weight.

This is a second buy after the first one broke. This one is much better!

To lock pole, twist it in either direction, which might be in the opposite direction of other section causing pole to loosen. hard to usr quickly. Sweet spot for extending or collapsing pole quickly slows operation.
