My second, or third?
I have thick, coarse, wavy to kinky hair and like to wear it curly. I have a straightening iron, but my hair is resistant and I prefer it curly most of the time. The best curls result from air drying but my hair holds water all day and makes me cold and I hate to be cold. I already had a working version of this dryer and can't remember if my first one died or what its fate was. I have even taken mine to my stylist to use on my hair after a cut. I bought the additional one because Conair had quit making this model once and I didn't want the one I had to die and leave me without the ability to get another. Also it was on cyber deal. And it is now ionic and ceramic, and I just couldn't resist. This dryer does the best job of preserving my curls while drying my hair than any blow dryer/diffuser combination I've tried. It's not as good as air drying, but the next best thing. Noise level is moderate.Tips:- use fingers, no comb or brush- bend over and direct air flow to the roots- don't try to completely dry hair, you'll lose curls. I've found the heat and air are enough to start the drying process, lifting the sodden strands enough to let the under bits dry on their own.- dryer is light weight and easy to hold, unlike some dryer/diffuser combos that are nearly too long to fit with my arm fully extended. the tips of the diffuser part can be used to separate strands.- scrunching is highly overrated. Your hand blocks the airflow. I twirl strands along a finger, or just lift and blow.- leave in conditioner and a curl activator and/or styling product give the best results, otherwise I find my hair looks dry and frizzy, not glossy and curly. The missing part that would make this the best curly hair dryer ever is dual voltage for travel. Possibly make it quieter. Then it would be a 6 star product.

classic dryer redone, dry hair without the fry
My wife had an original curley top hair dryed that she managed to maintain for many years. Unfortunately 20 plus years using the dryer finally killed it about a year ago. She was always saying hoe she liked the fact it dudn't fry her hair and was compact. Some replicas were posted online, but wherd always out of stock. Buying from ebay used just seemed like rolloing the dice on that old of a product, and the price wanted was more than these new ones. I ran across this product on amazon this past week and knew i needed to get it. Its by conair, same as ghe original, but noted to be a bit updated in mechanism. So far a week into using it, she really likes it. It is more power ghan the old model, so she finds herself using the low power to get the temp of her old model. But, she says it drys without the fry factor. She had been trying defusder and various dryers, but has finally found her replacement with this. Must have if fan of the original.

I did not get the same results
The positive reviews of this blowdryer was the biggest reason why I purchased it. Unfortunately, after using it about 20 times, I can't agree with all of the positive reviews. My curls are still frizzy, and this blowdryer was supposed to not make that happen. I use anti frizz stuff on my hair too. So not the amazing de-frizzer I was hoping for. Because is it is a big diffuser-dryer, yes, it curls my hair more than my regular dryer. So that's a positive. And because it is a big diffuser-dryer it takes longer to dry my thick coarse hair. I was not bothered by the sound of the dryer as others complained. To me, it was just as loud as my other blowdryer. The dryer is cute, easy to hold, easy to use, and the cord is long enough to maneuver the thing around your head without running out of space. I gave this dryer three stars because it was a good buy for the money and it works -- just not have good as I had hoped. I will still use it from time to time when I don't feel like drying my hair straight.

Great for price
I recently had an American Wave (type of perm) done to my very straight hair. Because I never needed a diffuser before, all the attachment were donated or trashed in my house. Needing something to dry my new curly hair, I took a chance on this because it was not expensive and it was supposed to do exactly what I needed- drying without frizz. While I am still new to styling curly hair, I think this diffuser works great. I am not the most experienced person when it comes to styling, but I have been able to create soft, manageable curls and waves using this so I am sure it is doing the job. While this is not the best quality dryer (I have much nicer ones..) I'm definitely happy with the performance and the outcome. Other reviewers have commented on the length and curl pattern of their hair making a difference. I have 2B in a medium length and thickness and it seems to be fine for me!

First of all it usually takes me about 20 minutes TOPS to dry my hair and with this I gave up after about 40 because my hair was
Just received this product today and I was excited to try it out as I've been wanting to add volume to my natural waves and wear my down for a change. I used a deva curl foam and shea moisture curl enhancing cream as products. I have a decent amount of hair but it's silky and will stay very smooth if I don't mess with it. So... this dryer. First of all it usually takes me about 20 minutes TOPS to dry my hair and with this I gave up after about 40 because my hair was still wet and my thumb felt like it was going to fall off from holding down the cool shot button for so long. I'm starting think this is a kids toy and not a serious tool! The results were ok, hubby likes it but I would have gotten the same or better results with a regular dryer and diffuser in half the time. I wouldn't recommend it unless you have little to no hair and have a few hours to kill with your head upside down. Save your $$.
